Re-tightening Spark Plugs After Install?

I replaced the spark plugs on my 2008 V8 SR5 at ~100K mi and am wondering if “re-torquing” the plugs after a certain interval is necessary.

I hadn’t thought a single thing of it until I saw a person post elsewhere that a recently replaced spark plug (on a non-Toyota) had loosened after so many miles and caused a big problem.

Sounds stupid but I want to ask the group for thoughts.

Shouldn't be necessary if you installed them properly. Either torqued to spec or snugged down if you have done spark plugs many times before. I've never had a spark plug come loose.

I also agree that it shouldn't be necessary if installed correctly, I also have never had a spark plug that I installed get loose..ever...but it's your ride and you need to decide to do whatever makes you warm, fuzzy and puts your mind at ease.

Well it seems it depends on where you get the torque specs from, but around 13 to 15 ft lb.

Here a topic on the subject but no one supplied a actual reference for their answers for the most part.

torque specs on spark plugs? '05 V6

Also here's the search results I got from this forum, you may want to check some of the other topics on this subject.
