Water pouring in when I open the rear hatch!

Does anyone else on a rainy day have water dump into the back when they open their rear hatch?? The weather stripping seems to be In good shape but water does not escape to the sides it just pours over the lip. Has anyone fixed this by replacing the stripping?

There's vent holes in the bottom of the hatch door (black plastic I think). They get clogged after awhile. Use something thin to clean them out or take the inner panel off and clean the debris from the inside. Also make sure the weather stripping is all intact, there should be a horizontal piece that pushes against the rear window. Often it falls off allowing lots of water in, no matter what some gets in on the left & right edges but should be minimal. Below is the replacement piece if needed.

Search here for the part number listed in the Amazon link and you'll find plenty of threads like the one below.

Rear window seal, repair or replace ?

Sounds like you have something blocking the water from draining to the right and left when the hatch is closed, check all the weathering stripping on the hatch and body and make sure they're not loose and creating a dam.

Thanks for the replies. I will check the weather stripping and drain holes to see if it’s clogged.

I could be wrong but I think ya'll are misunderstanding what @Hunter.Cribb issue is, I don't think the water is coming out of the hatch when he opens it, but instead when he opens the hatch when it's raining the water coming off the top of his T4R goes up over the rubber gasket that is attached to the body above the hatch opening.

I have a somewhat similar issue because I have numerous large trees in my yard and leaves are always stuck and built up behind that rubber gasket if I haven't opened the hatch for a while, causing a similar waterfall affect if I haven't cleaned them out so when it's raining hard and I open the hatch I get a little bit of water coming up and over the gasket, as long as I removed the leaves recently I don't have that issue.

Yes that’s exactly what’s happening. I cleaned everything up really good. We will see if I have anymore problems when it rains again.
