OEM sub enclosure 861500W040

Hi Guys,

just got a fantastic deal on an OEM sub enclosure for my 2007 Sport. Just wondering since my truck didn't come with it, is there a way to splice into the inputs on the factory amp to power the sub and give signal? If that's not possible then does anyone know what amps are the correct size to replace the original amp? I would just need a 2 channel into 1 bridgeable as I'm only powering the sub and I believe I will also be replacing that as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark

The existing system will not power the sub. You will need an amplifier for it.

Just curious what you paid for the stock enclosure? I actually just had one shipped to me from a junkyard and think I got a good price myself. The top 2 tabs broke during shipping though!

Was your sport equipped with the JBL system? if it wasnt (explaining why your truck didnt come with the sub) you shouldnt have a factory amp.

I'm about to add one to my SR5, and to do so I'll be running a new amp/sub in the OEM enclosure.

For some reason I thought I also talked bout the question.. As was said an aftermarket amp will have to be added. Im not sure if you can just add a stock amp but maybe?

My sport doesn't have any of it but I am going aftermarket all the way. Looking at subs now not sure which one i want to do.

Hi,

the enclosure came with the stock amp and the stock sub. To answer your question, the seller was asking 100.00$ and I ended up paying 80.00$ CAD which was about 15 minutes from my house. He said it was fully functional but I thought that I would definitely change the sub and the amp. The problem is what amps fit in the enclosure. I tried to find out online and there were no real definitive answers. As for the sub, it's an 8" and when I finalize what amp I will be working with then I'll decide on the correct sub.

Thanks,

Hey that's not to bad at all! a steal actually compared to what I was able to find. I ended up paying $65 USD for mine and they also sent the panel for it but the donor truck def had a long life lol The top mounting tabs broke during shipping which sucks but shouldn't be so bad to fix or maybe leave it idk yet.

Working on picking a sub out and leaning towards JL audio myself but its gonna have to wait for a bit.

JL is definitely a great way to go.
They make a stealth box for our 4th gens that is pretty awesome.

Yeah I saw that but $800 plus is a tad out my budget at the moment lol I think I found one that will fit nicely in the stock enclosure though!

Honestly, if you don't already have the factory amp there, take a quick measurement, then order one for it. It only takes about a half hour to take it apart. The only thing I would worry about is heat dissipation. It'll be completely enclosed and amps get HOT.

I took a look at it and the OEM amp is 9 1/8 x 6 inches. I will take it off but other that having a slightly longer area for a replacement amp, I'm not sure how much the width can be as its not in the compartment so i don't know how much wiggle room there would be.

I am running just the subwoofer with the amp. The upgraded head unit is taking care of the rest.

I can take a look and tell you what I would use in this situation. What are the specs of your sub?
