Transfer case oil cleaner than differential

Do you find the transfer case oil is always cleaner than the differential oil ?

Excuse me ignorance but is it because the transfer case is only used when differential is locked ?

I just did the rear diff and it was black and original fluid. I will be doing the front stuff on sunday and will let you what I find. Those fluids have never been changed either.

yes, I have noticed that on many different vehicles. the t-case fluid doesn't get worked nearly as hard as the differentials.

T-Case is chain driven. Differential has some huge gears in comparison, which I'm guessing works the oil more.

Is there a higher volume of lubrication in the transfer case?
If so, contamination could be more dilute.
Just musing.
