retrofit wiring question

hi all, I'm retrofitting my headlights on my 04 4runner. I went with Morimoto's bi-xenon mini h1 with stock high beams. I did not know I needed to and did not purchase the y-splitter and not sure how it works as the photos does not indicate how they are wired. my understanding is the two wires that turns on the bixenon high beams (white and brown) should be wired to the factory high beams, am I correct? the y-splitter does not show any connecting wire harness for the bi-xenon projector wires. would I just wire the two thin bi-xenon projector wires ( white and brown) to the factory high beams? pics would be appreciated, thanks.

The “molex” bi-xenon connector plugs into the solenoid on the projector and the other side should be 9005 which connects to the stock harness. The splitter splits this in 2 - one side 9005 that connects to the harness and the 2 other sides go to either the solenoid or the stock high beam.

DM is correct. I have an 03 with Morimoto Mini H1s with a high beam splitter so I can try and get you some pictures later. Another way to put it, if you orient the high beam splitter like the letter "Y", the bottom of the "Y" goes to your stock high beam harness and then one branch of the "Y" goes to the projector solenoid and the other branch of the "Y" goes to your high beam bulb.

Thanks. So better to do it clean and just get the y-splitter. Are they the same or is there a specific part number? Thanks

just a standard 9005 Y-splitter. Lightwerkz/TRS sells 'em, but after shipping, I'd probably just go the Amazon route.

Something like this will work just fine.

Yes I would just get the splitter as they aren't very expensive. What DM posted should work, looks very similar to what I ordered from Lightwerkz.

Take pics if you get confused on what goes where and we can try to help if you need.

I think the painted highs looks good during the day but not as bright as It being unpainted. Good thing my projectors are bixenon, with the wire harness I’m running quad highs. Probably search for a mod to make them daytime lights with my halos. Also did the stage 1 fog mod so I can turn them on anytime except when running the highs.

I can help you with that I'm assuming you still have OEM DRLs right?

Just to stay on topic, get the hi beam splitter to make everything plug and play.
