Worth fixing before selling?

So I'm looking at selling my 4runner as I am going to get a Tundra. Problem is, it needs a few things. I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to fix them, or just sell as is.... Mods are all in my sig. It's a very clean truck, runs great. Only negatives are below;

250k miles
Hatch is rusted along the top window
Rear window regulator needs replaced
Spare tire carrier cable broke
Frame rust is average....no holes, but surface rust. I keep it sprayed yearly.
Rear bumper reflectors need replaced

I'm debating replacing the hatch and regulator, or letting it go as is. What do you think I could get for it? Would I get significantly more if I fixed the hatch and regulator? I see clean high mileage 4runners, same year, on autotrader for 5-6k. Is 4-5k as-is realistic?

Personally I paid $3500 for a 185,000 2003 sport edition which I think is fair market price. It has a couple cosmetic issues and just surface rust on the frame. Personally I’d suggest fixing it, it would attract more female buyers. But if it’s already built for offroad you may have ruled out that demographic. In the case it’s built sell it as is.

I just bought an 05 SR5 4wd with 263k in excellent condition with NO rust for $3000. Only some minor cosmetic flaws. But, it's bone stock. None of the mods like you have. So I guess it partially depends on how much the mods help the value of yours. If you find someone who wants one modified you'll probably come out good but for anyone just wanting transportation it probably won't mean as much.

Thanks! Ya, I have a feeling it's a very niche market and not for your average car buyer.

Id sell as is and see what sort of response you get.

Ive replaced two hatches and so you're probably looking at 600-900 to replace the liftgate and the actuator

I replaced one spare tire winch - which was about $30-50 for a used replacement part . The area was so corroded and rusted I needed a shop for their tools and that was $100 to replace

I think you'll come out even with the time and work you put into replacing or fixing it vs selling as is. If youve got access to a lift gate its easy to swap.

Good luck

I think it was on Autotrader or one of those type sites. I feel very fortunate finding it in such good condition for that price. Totally satisfied at this point.

Just sell it as is... don’t waste time and money “fixing it” just clean her up outside and maybe a nice wipe and vac on the inside and under hood and it will sell asap
