4th Gen Maintenance 180k Miles

4th Gen Owners,

I have read over a few forums from years back about regular/routine maintenance that should be completed before the 200k mark. Are there any members on here who have recently done necessary maintenance that can offer insight for a v6 at 179k miles?

I have come to the conclusion that I will need to:
-Spark plugs
-Grease drive shaft
-Transmission and power steering flush
-CV axles

Completed:
-Oil change every 5k miles
-Drain and fill diff and transfer case oil
-Replaced front coilovers and rear shocks/springs

Thank you in advance for the suggestions!

what type of insight are you looking for? looks like your list covers most the major items. also read the owners manual for what maint toyota suggests at what miles.

What grease are you using? I've read spider Zerk #1 and #3 to use Mobil 1 synthetic grease and for Zerk #2 Sta-Lube Moly-Graph Lithium Grease and to not use moly grease in the spiders.

be careful with that, every other oil change may be excessive. the slip yoke can only take a certain amount of grease before it causes problems with hydraulic lock. thats why they say when greasing it to only do a limited amount of pumps like 4-8. overfilling it is not good, it doesnt bleed out the excess grease like the ujoints do. i had a clunking on my 4runner when i bought it, greased it up with moly grease & hasnt made a noise since.

just saying to grease as needed, not every other oil change if its not needed.

Personally I use Lucasoil Red N Tacky #2 but it sounds like you've done your research. And as mentioned by @firebirdguy , I forgot that greasing on a regular basis shouldn't include the slip yokes but only the u-joints. I do my ujoints every other oil change for 20k now and its been fine. Fixed my clunk from when I had bought the truck

How often are you doing the slip yokes?

I think I normally do it once a year, not doing it more frequently mainly out of fear that it will cause undo strain on the t-case. Whenever I get under the truck I always look at it and make sure it seems "wet" though. Hasn't made any squeaks or anything so it must be alright
