Question Sport or Limited? Which to buy?

I keep going back and forth between buying a Sport or a Limited. Which would you pick and why? With my 3rd gen it was a no brainer but with the 4th gens I dont know.

Either way Im getting V6. Rarely do any offroading. If I do its to go camping. I would be using this to tow every once in a while a small camper, small horse trailer (big horse), car, or motorcycle.

I like knowing that I have the best of the best (please dont start v6 vs v8 debate). I read that the sport has bigger brakes, that would help with towing. Not sure how I feel about XREAS. Seems complicated and costly. It will have 4x4. Will miss the fulltime 4WD that my 3rd gen had but I dont want a V8

I think X-REAS is a great system when it's working. The expense comes when it starts failing and instead of replacing one component you have to replace the entire system.

I was exactly where you are when I bought my 4th gen. But I went with the limited just because it had some of the bells and whistles like leather, heated seats, and home link etc. The only thing I wish the limiteds came with is that awesome hood scoop!! Good luck with your search, either way you'll have a great all around vehicle...

Re:

Sport and Limited has XREAS. Limited has leather, Sport has cloth. Limited has seat warmers but those can be put in a sport as well with cloth seats. (I have them with cloth sport seats and winter in VA and OR it pays off) Limited wheels are 18's and Sport has the 17's. The Sport has a non-functioning hood scoop while the Limited hood is bare like the SR5. Running boards on the Limited have lights, while the Sport it depends on the years. 03-05 running boards, no lights, and 06-09 has tube steps. 06-09 Sports also have Nerf bar roof racks compared to the...other style of roof rack found on SR5, and Limited of all years.

What body style do you like? Do you mind hot leather seats in the sunlight, or do you worry about tears in the leather? Do you worry about staining the cloth seats with spilled drinks? Since you are dead set in the V6, really you just have to pick through the differences in interior design. The potential 4runner is going to be used, so I'd really just compare the current condition of the actual 4runner you're deciding on. Good Luck

I will also want all the bells and whistles. But figured if the one I choose doesnt have leather then I'll get the Classico leather. In fact if the one I choose has leather I still might get the Classico leather. lol. Seat warmers are a plus but can also be added. Factory nav would be nice to but I assume that can be added too. The hood scoop looks cool but its non-functional which isnt cool.

Im in the 03-05 range. I cant afford the refreshed 4th gen. I didnt know the limited have 18's, they look like the same as the SR5 rims. It only looked like the Sports have the different rims. 17/18 doesnt matter to me. I do like that the limited have illumnated side steps.

Body style doesnt matter. I am avoiding 4th gens with the plastic cladding. not worried about hot leather or tearing the leather. I have 3 dogs that I take hiking all the time and leather will be easier to clean.

I am reading the differences between 03, 04, and 05's. I think preference will be given to 05 then 04, then 03s.

If you aren't big into off road then just get a Limited, you get more bells and whistles like 12volt sockets, a power inverter, heated seats, leather, JBL sound, memory seats, nice running boards, nicer wheels. If you get a V8 then you can get rear air suspension. etc etc. can't remember what else.....

Limited V6 might have smaller brakes but I'm pretty sure limited V8s have bigger brakes, the same as a sport. Dont quote me on that.

I just know that the limited V8 is outfitted for towing so I assume it has upgraded brakes.

Good luck, you wont be disappointed with either.

I agree with Red, go Limited. More bells and whistles for on road comfort.

I have an '05 sport V6 and I love it. When I was looking to buy, I did not want leather, I could not afford the refresh design (and honestly I like the old style better), and was dead-set on a V6.

Since purchasing, I've ditched the xreas system for lift coils and new shocks.

If I had to do it all over again I'd get the same thing, just a V8. MPGs are not much different.

Limited for sure, although V6 Limiteds are few and far between, most I've seen around here at least were all 8's

if you are not heavy on off roading, get the LIMITED. The brakes are not smaller on the Limited. They are the larger brakes on the Limited as well.

limited is a no brainer IMO.

also 4Runner cloth seats are among the most uncomfortable seats i have ever sat in. luckily i've gotten used to them over the last few months.

seems like limited is what would work better for you.

Am I the only one here with an upgraded Sport edition? I have leather, heated seats, home link, jbl sound system...blah blah
