Check engine, slip indicator VSC TRAC,VSC OFF lights on

Hi all

I am hoping someone out there can help me out. I have a 2005 V8 4x4 Sport 4runner and my engine light, slip indicator,VSC TRAC,and VSC OFF lights are on. At about 12 MPH on deceleration I get a thump coming to a stop. On the highway it does not shift from 4th into 5th. I took it to toyota to check it out and they came up with p0778 code indicating that I needed to replace solenoid "B" and tried to sell me a new Transmission. The apparently checke the harness and it checked out ok. I have 70k mi on the tranny and it has never been abused. I had the transmission serviced and the 2 solenoids replaced. The transmission fluid was new looking and there were no shavings or other debris in the pan. The codes were cleared and the problem still exists. I was told that the transmission was in good shape and that the problem was electrical. Has anyone out there seen this before? My transmission is the A750F. I would appreciate any input.

I read through the above posts and cant find any information on my problem.

I have a 2004 limited v8 4x4. I had the "Cel" "VCS "VCStrack" lights come on. So I bought a scan gauge 2. The closest AutoZone or Toyota dealer is a 2 hour drive away and I work almost 6 days a week. I Had the scan gauge on my list so when I the lights lit up I orderd it.

After I received it I pluged it in and did the normal set up steps. Now I'm not showing any codes and there are none stored. The check engine light is OFF, but the VSCoff and VSCtrack lights are on.

P.s. I did check the fuel cap.

any ideas?

Thank you.

So I read this

Most Autoparts stores should have a capable scantool to get codes, but you may have to go to an independent shop and/or the dealer. An example of a failure of this type would be a speed sensor or failure in ABS wiring, ect.
I'm guessing that its the abs sensor harness. The lights first came on after I bumped a the curb pulling up to 7-11 a little harder than I planed. So with that and the new radflo 2.5 lift I just put on a few miles ago put enough stress on the harness to cause this issue. I plan on going to the closest shop with and abs capable scan tool before I dig into it.

P.s. Thanks again.

Do a zero point calibration and they should clear.

VSC, slip, check engine lights

Hello and thank you to everyone that posts here. A huge thank you to the creators of this forum. My issue was fixed by reading the thread.

I had and issue with the VSC, skid, check engine lights that came on one day and wouldn’t go out. Read on the thread that it could be a gas cap. Checked my gas cap and it was clearly loose. Tried tightening it to get the two licks. Got the clicks but it didn’t sound or feel right like it wasn’t completely sealed. Searched NAPA, AutoZone and O’Reilly for new gas caps. Went to pick them up but I was skeptical that they would work because they didn’t look the same as the original. Went to Amazon to buy and OEM but saw a cheaper OEM knock off. Bought it, installed it, clicks felt right, filled up the tank then waited. Lights still in after a few hours…after a day…after two days. Then started reading more threads and looking at YouTube vids for a fix. Started looking more complicated. Then I just stared at the wall for another week like FTBS I might just drive this thing into the ocean. On about day ten of the issue I was on my way to the beach and noticed the lights went out. Light stayed out ever since it’s been about two weeks now.

So very successful! Proves that if you work hard and stare at a wall for long enough your issues will fix themselves. I don’t know what the longest time would be before those lights will go out by replacing a gas cap but again mine took about 10 days.

Here’s the video I subscribed to and saved for the day I was ready to re-attack this issue.

Hope you guys found this useful.
