Large cover on top of engine.

Is there any good reason that this cover must be kept on the engine, i remove it when replacing my the oil filter and you have to remove the two small nuts holding the cover down.

I don't see any good reason to have it on let me know if i have missed anything.

Dust shield, rain cover, rodent protector, and generally gives a modern finished look to the engine compartment.

No reason to keep it. I threw away mine after I got the 4R and there was a bunch of dirt and leaves trapped under it. Now I can more fully enjoy lovingly gazing at my beautiful, clean 1GR-FE.

if you have the sport model with fake hood scoop it keeps water from falling on top of the engine, pooling in unseen parts.

with a regular hood, it's not a much needed item.
