Changing Carpet Color?

I’ve got this carpet with some stains in the back seat from the previous owner but it’s not in the worst shape but I was wondering if there was anyway I could spray paint, dye, or color my carpet probably just solid black. I’ve seen it on YouTube and looks like it turns out pretty good just feels weird which doesnt matter to me because i have weather techs covering the area. Any ideas? Worth? Stupid?

What are the stains from?

IMO if you're going through the process of getting to the carpet to where you can paint it or dye it I would start by taking the carpet out 100% and power-washing it or something first.

I'd be worried about off-gassing from spray paint or dye's. I'm not matchy-matchy, but I'd hate to go through with a paint or dye for it to end up looking like garbage and/or over-spray elsewhere in the car if you don't take it out.

Put on some rubber gloves, get some good cleaner and see if the stain comes out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dRfvB7Ekeg

No clue what the stains are from but I was planning to take off the carpet anyway because under it is disgusting (previous guy wasn’t the clean type I see) and I wanted to add some sound deadening material I’ve got but I’ll attempt to get them out

If it's just stains, give Folex a shot. You can buy it at Home Depot (probably lots of other places). It's basically magic in a bottle.

I saw a listing on Rock Auto for a complete carpet replacement if you don't wanna clean it. Although that involves removing seats and such to remove it completely, so you're choosing between attempting to clean and the time that occupies along with results varying, and turning some wrenches and just ripping it all out. They have different colors and even vinyl. Different thicknesses too if you're interested in improving the sound dampening in your rig.
