Can you add steering wheel audio controls??

Background info:

2005 SR5 Non-JBL

I have a set of steering wheel controls for the radio. I have an upgraded double din Sony AXV AX-200. I am getting frustrated that I cannot easily figure out how to add the steering wheel controls to skip to the nest track or change the audio volume without taking my hands off the wheel.

Do I need to add something to the wiring to get it to work? I have connected the OEM audio controls to the pigtails behind the steering wheel airbag and it does not send a signal to my sony headunit.

you need to get an adapter, idatalink maestro sw is what i would prefer, if your radio have more functions and can communicate with the obd 2, get the rr or rr2

I recently installed a Sony XAV AX100 and I bought this: Amazon.com: CRUX SWRTY-61S Radio Replacement with SWC Retention (for Select Toyota Vehicles 2003-2013): Automotive. My steering wheel controls work perfectly with it. You may need to verify it's the right one for your model head unit. You can research it on Crutchfield's site.
