Battery Maintainer

Anyone using a battery maintainer? I personally use a Noco Genius 2 but interested in hearing about your experiences with battery maintainer's. Thx

I use a BatteryMINDer brand maintainer on a 2013 Lexus ES350. It stays in my garage and is only driven maybe once a week and sometimes every other week. I still have the original battery in it and it tests good every time I take it to the dealer for the annual oil change.

i use a CTEK Multi US 25000
even tho its a charger, it can maintain the battery after its fully charged up. it works for my use to keep my agm batteries topped off, since i only travel 10 miles each way to work, i know my dual batteries dont get fully charged, truck sits in parking lot about 12 hours, my alarm do use some battery power.

Odd question, does your maintainer have a self contained battery that keeps the other batteries charged?

I have a NOCO G3500 3.5 I usually use on my motorcycle over the winter and to top off the AGM battery in the 4R once or twice a year.

Got 10 years out of a Optima Red which was replaced a couple months ago with Energizer AGM. Just for kicks , I ran the NOCO's AGM mode on the Optima Red several times over a few weeks, few days time in between cycles , and it's now holding at 12.5v , compared to about 12.0v when it was pulled from the car. Going to keep it as backup/spare battery.

Have an Optimate6 that has worked awesomely. Indicated the battery condition (red, yellow, green) when i starts charging and where it is after it's done. Usually do 1/week since I'm not driving much now.

I use battery tenders on motorcycle and cars. Keep one (3a) on my diesel truck permanently. Really helps in the cold winter months. You can pick up really nice 3 and now 4 amp models at Costco for less than $50.

I use this one on my Volvo as it only gets driven weekly if its lucky. Spends a lot of time in the garage being worked on, so it helps to make sure the battery is topped off when I actually want to drive it.

I just ordered the Noco Genius 5 to maintain my Nat Luna Power Pack with DH Plat Marine battery, and since I only use it when I out on trips it starting to de-charge.

I've just about used or owned a bunch of different models over the years...

Most all will work just fine if the goal is the keep your battery from going bad from slow parasitic drain.

The only real differences from the upper end models is special features or support for different types of battery chemistry, voltages, current delivery, or configurations. Some need it, some don't. Hardly worth the premium if you don't.

While I own a a couple NOCO models like the GV7200 which I use on a 24v system, and had a BatteryMINDer for the desulfator function, I find I still grab the most basic of "Battery Tender Junior".

It's just simple, no settings. Just plug it in and move on.

I've had some of the smarter units go dumb on me for no reason which is why I still like Battery Tender.

I completely agree simple works best. The NOCO Genius 2 & 5 I now use are similar to BT Jr except you have select battery type. I been using the G2 for over a year to maintain my primary but only started to use the G5 2 days ago to maintain my secondary.
