Awning questions.

Looking at buying an awning and debating brand and size. But for now I’m thinking of the Ironman 8’ x 6-1/2’. Anyone with experience with this brand? Good pricing, has a cool quick disconnect feature and includes LED's. Also, I like the 8’ x 8’ size but not sure if I like the idea of the awning pushing forward of the windshield when folded up, thinking that I would see it out of the corner of my eye when driving. Thoughts?

I haven’t seen that one but I’ve got the ARB awning which is 6.5’ x 8.25’ with an LED light strip down the middle. I wouldn’t go with the bigger one just because of how far it sticks.

I do not have the Ironman one. My awning is 6.5 x 8 though. I think it is a great size, especially for a larger group (family). 8 feet on the mounting edge would extend out too far for my liking as well.

Ironman looks good and is about a $100 less than the ARB. So in your opinions the 6.5' x 6' will work just fine.

If it's a couple people the 6' is fine, but if you have more people you might find you will want bigger. You will find yourself re-positioning stuff more with a smaller shade, depending on how it's all setup that day.

I have the longest ARB and even with it pushed forward so the wing clears when the hatch is open, I don't see it out of the corner of my eye. The only way I can see it is if I lean way forward and look for it.

No experience with any other awning, just a size recommendation. I'd hate to be chasing the shade around.

Moved many a cooler keeping it in the shade as the day progresses.
