Toytec boss adjustment?

May be a bit of a stupid question, but I got the toytec boss suspension and am wondering how to adjust them so that they're at 3"? It says they come loaded at 2.5" but since I got the HD rear coils I don't want it to sag in the front especially since I'm putting on my shrockworks bumper at the same time I put on the suspension. Is it better to adjust it while it's off the vehicle or better to do it while it's on? I won't be installing it and I'm worried the guy who is wont get what I'm saying! Thanks for the help guys!

Take pre installation measurements from the center of your hub to the top of your wheel well. Install your lift, then install your bumper. Then re-measure. Adjust accordingly. Mine we're set to almost 3.75" so I had to crank them down quite a bit. They are a ***** to adjust. One tip that will make it a lot easier is remove your sway bar before you start.

The problem is I've got a daystar 2.5" spacer on my front suspension and 1.5" on the rear. And ontop of that I have an RCI skid plate which is weighing down the front end a good amount already so I'm not exactly at stock fight so measurements won't do anything for me :/

I believe that stock front is 19" center hub to top of wheel well and rear stock is 21"

I see what you mean. Install the lift and bumper THEN adjust the fronts to wherever you want them. Get an alignment after you install the lift and then you will need one every time you adjust the fronts. You will probably be wasting your time adjusting them before you install them. Be prepared for at least 2 alignments.

And I'm assuming that's what's gonna happen which I'm not looking forward to, but hopefully the shop I get it done at will know what I'm talking about, but I have a feeling I'm gonna be taking the rig apart a few times getting it all straightened out :/

Not sure if your question has completely been answered so....

When I adjust I jack the front end up taking the weight off the suspension, pull the wheel off on the corner I want to work on. Undoing the sway bar probably helps but I never do. I'll usually give it a shot of PB Blaster or WD40 to help keep things moving while i'm working. Beyond that, its just a matter of getting that little pin to align with the holes in the collars and getting enough pressure on it to break it loose. I think I put a pipe on the wrench one time to get enough leverage to break it loose. It's been awhile.

One thing that I think someone touched on but maybe not is settling.
You really have to let these springs settle before you know what you have. Mine net gain was close to 4" IIRC but after a couple days or maybe it was a week, it settled down an inch. Also you'll find that you'll get the "Toyota Lean" which the coil-overs are very handy for correcting.

What I ended up doing was cranking it down to 3" the minute I had it on, then when it settled... you guessed it, back under there cranking my life away lifting it back up. And I still tore a CV boot...

Removing the sway bar helped me a lot because it allowed me to get 1/2 turns instead of 1/8 & 1/4 turns. Plus it only took 5 minutes to disconnect the sway bar because my skid plate was already off. Good point on the settling!

Old thread revival.

Setup - have a new to me 14 TEP w/KDSS with the Boss suspension. I just put on a CBI front bumper with winch and it's dipping a bit in front (understandably). I'd like to correct that by adjusting the front coilovers. I didn't install this lift so I'm not as familiar with it. I have the wrench.

Question - I assume the front end needs to be off the ground to adjust the coils, one of the guys above said that's what he does....want to know if that is a necessity or preference? Any tips, pointers or ideas before I proceed?

First, remove the little lock screw on the collar.

Wheels off the ground or close to off the ground wouldn't hurt. Spray the threads a bunch with lubricant or wd-40 to get them clean and easy to spin the collar around and have at it!

Be careful not to round out the holes on the collar, but it's pretty much that easy. Usually if you move the collar 1/2" your ride height will change 1" or something close to that ratio.

Were these easy to adjust once installed? I am looking at putting these on at around 1.5 inch of lift knowing down the road I will be adding rear lift and 285's.

I"m having trouble adjusting my toytec coilovers as well. The instructions said loosen the locking collar and then adjust the other collar, but mine only have one collar and I can't find a set screw holding it in place. Tried turning it, but it started twisting the entire shock and I was scared of breaking the weld where it connects to lower a arm. Any suggestions?
