Factory Radio Replacement
I own a 2008 SR5 base model (without JBL sound). I am looking to replace the stock radio and am wondering what I should replace it with. Looking for navigation, blue tooth connection with audio streaming. Anyone have recommendations?

fedrlbiker,
Did you complete the installation yourself if so, was it an easy install and did you have to make any modifications? Also does it support bluetooth audio streaming or does your music player have to be connected with a cable

That certainly does look nice. I've been wanting to hear some first hand experiences with the Parrot. What mounting kit is that? It looks like the screen sticks out a little - I wonder if the Urban Runner trim ring would make it more flush. Are they definitely working on something to make our steering wheel controls functional?

My buddy helped me and he happens to be an installer... HOWEVER, there were no modifications necessary. He actually told me how easy it was because the radio is very shallow (no disc). And said he was going to start recommending this unit to people. The big reason I got his help was because of the backup camera install in my spoiler (see build thread).
Yes, it does Bluetooth streaming, hands free, and all the good stuff. It's basically a smart phone.
As far as the kit goes, I think it's the Metra. It was what he had and it doesn't matter to me. It looks good and sits shallower than the factory radio.
For the Unika steerin wheel controls, Parrot states that they are working on further compatibility. Basically, the company is from Europe and they are still working on American vehicles as this just came out earlier in the year. There is no timeline announced, but it will happen.
That said, word on the street is that kenwood is working on an android radio, but no news on when.

that things pretty sweet fedrlbiker
to the OP i installed a Pioneer AVIC-X920BT (check sig for link and inside of it several other links to help with install) and love it. has all the things youre asking for and syncs to smart phones easy. ive had it a couple years now and ran me about $1000 then. im betting theyve come down in price since.
install is a breeze. i did it on my lunch break in the work parking lot. no mods needed. if you can i would get the urban runner trim piece. it cleans it up nicely.

Amazon has it for $430. I think my buddy got it for like $375 on his employee purchase through Best Buy, but they don't carry it in store so he had to do a special order from Parrot. It took so long to do the EP that I would just buy it from Amazon if I had to do it over again.

Just got Torque Pro running on my Asteroid. So far I'm loving this head unit. Works perfectly tethered to my Nexus 5.

Radio Trim Ring
Is anyone using the Urban Runner trim Ring?
I am planning on installing a MVH-1400NEX Pioneer in my 2008 4Runner with non JBL
Trying to get a parts list together now.

I went with the MVH-1400NEX. I do not have the Urban Runner trim though. Really liking this H/U. Love having CarPlay and being able to do everything by voice. I ran the included mic to the back of the rear view mirror. Siri response is excellent and everyone on the phone says the sound quality is good.

you cannot use that kit for the base radio opening, the other guy has a jbl radio opening.
your radio kit is the metra 95-8202 kit, just have the side gap covers. it works really good when done right. scosche and american international and bestkits uses the similar stuff, but will show the sides of radio more.

Oh yeah sorry for the confusion. I did replace a JBL H/U, but that is the Metra kit for a JBL and fitment is good.
