2005 SR5 V6 240k - The demons are gone

The downward spiral started at 170k with a blown head gasket. I'm a fair shade tree mechanic but farmed this out to another shade tree mechanic as I didn't have the time. It's been nothing but heartache since then. I'll make a long story short. I recently got the bug to get this vehicle sorted. My step daughter drives it now. I noticed it idled rough. Real rough. It had never done this before the blown head gasket. After many repair attempts the car was loaded with thirds party sensors and parts. I suspected them and I was right. The biggest offender was counterfeit coils. I had had enough. I replaced the air mix and O2 sensors with OEM, in this case Denso. I also replaced the coils with Denso. That along with replacing the counterfeit Denso plugs did the trick. Aside from the senses of hearing, you would not know the car was running. It is so smooth that from inside a closed cabin you would think it had stalled. I thought I had this sorted at one point in the near past but the fake components faded fast. This is a lesson I will not soon forget. Make wise part choices.

Nice to hear! I exclusively get OEM parts for my rig. No exceptions. Even the cabin/air filter/oil filter. Having that said, I totally dread any HG problems (if they ever occur).

100%! Recently I replaced the 3 way coolant valve on my wifes Prius with a Dorman part from Rock Auto. Within 2 weeks the coolant leak was back.

I was able to isolate it to the valve itself. Removed that valve and replaced with OEM at twice the price. Well worth the extra money - i don't think I"ll have to replace that again.

I also had a bad run of luck with aftermarket O2 sensors and just ended up getting OEM from dealer and all is well again
