03->06 Projector with HID hot spot issue
I finished the 03-06 projector install a few weeks ago and have been battling an issue with the passenger side performance. I can't get a nice hotspot. The hotspot is pretty funky. The driver side is fine.
I'm pretty sure this is not how the hotspot is suppose to be, right?
This is from the first headlight but the second one is pretty much the same.
I am running HIDs and switched bulbs between the driver and passenger and still the same . I swapped out the passenger side headlight with another one and same thing. I doubt I have two faulty headlights housings....?
I haven't done the squirrel finder mod yet on the passenger side but that shouldn't affect the hotspot yeh?
I am getting a 9006-H11 adapter so I can try a halogen bulb.

wait, so you are using 9006 HIDs in the projectors right now? I think that may be your problem. The housings can only fit H11 bulbs

sorry, no, i'm using H11s. I have some H11 halogens but cant try them as my connector is 9006. I'm getting connector adapters so I can connect to a H11 halogen.
Right now, I'm using DDM HIDs which have a universal plug.

Use proper projectors designed for HID and it won't be a problem.

The driver side doesn't have this issue.
But we will see, I will put halogens in tomorrow once I get my connector adapters.

its ddm bulbs, i would use the morimoto h11b bulbs.
but of course you cant compare these to true hid retrofits.

Agree. It ain't a balla setup but still doesn't explain the weird hot spot. Should still work. :T

having the correct bulbs will help also.
there is 2 kinds of h11 hid bulb.
the regular one will have the return wire in the top position,
the h11b will have the return wire at the correct position for the h11 halogen projectors.
the pic you have seems like the ground shadow effect when using the wrong hid bulb.
H11B: Morimoto XB HID
the website usually describe it, also how far was the light from the wall? to get accurate visual, must be 25 feet away.

ah yeh i was just thinking that! I was going to check on the return wire today. The picture was of the 4R close up to the garage to just get an idea of light output between the driver and pass side. I went on an aiming session run the other week and followed the manual and thats where i discovered the output differences.
I'll report back on the H11 vs H11b.

So I checked and the HID bulbs I have are in fact h11B. The return wire is on the opposite side of the wide tab.
I stopped by DDM anyways and changed out the bulbs and same issue.
Thinking about it, if it was the H11A vs B, the driver side should see the same issue.
I got some new halogens and will try them out tonight. Using halogens, everything should work perfectly as these proj were made for halogens, right?
If not, then I'll have to try another headlight.

the more i look at the main pic, it possible that the projector is shinning through the dot of the headlight lens, usually they use them alignment box thingy.

yeh i see those little dots. I don't think its that. You can see that the way the light refracts off the lens that it's not very "full".
You can see the diff. Not sure what to do. Even the halogens (Osram Night Breakers) do the same thing. I'll prob try another pass side headlight.
