Crazy door locks

Symptoms: door locks cycle while running or in acc once the driver door is opened and in park. Doors automatically lock when vehicle is off and door is open. All locks are operating as they should. None are sticking.

I’ve come across a few threads stating it maybe an actuator or a BCM.

Has anyone else experience this yet?

2008 4Runner Urban Runner

Thanks in advance.

At a guess it's a short or control module. Or possibly battery is on the way out-that's where I would start, over the years have seen some really odd things happen with a weak battery.

I agree with this. My 4R had been sitting for more than a month when the battery decided to check out. Weird as it is only 2 years old. Anyway, my tailgate hatch wouldn't open (no sounds). I thought the motor/actuator died and was due for a replacement. A few days after I ran the motor, the tailgate decided to work again. Strange. Grateful, but strange.

Another strange quirk (maybe it's just mine): if you remove the interior courtesy light fuse (15amp under the hood), the gauges never go to "rest state". When you connect the fuse, they do. Again, weird.

I had an actuator fail on me and if that door wasn't manually locked, it would only attempt to lock the doors twice and then give up. I have mine set to lock as soon as it leaves drive, so it would try then and then once moving. I don't know too much about BCM myself, but you can probably rule out the actuator.
