2006 4Runner AC issues

I noticed my ac was not working on the driver side but my passenger side was working ok. I looked at my blend doors and they were working and also took them apart and they seem ok. I hooked some ac gauges up and I had 75psi on the low side and 60psi on static pressure (car not running). I start car and turn the ac on and the low side drops to 0psi and the high side went to 85psi. I turn ac off and the low side goes back to 75psi. It sounds to me like I have a clog somewhere. Maybe the Oriface tube or expansion valve? Any ideas.

Sounds like a low charge or plugged expansion valve. Both sides are reading low. Without knowing ambient temp the OK range for lownside is 25 to 50psi give or take, high side would be 150 to 210. My guess would be a low charge. Check the state of charge before doing anything... Mine had a slow leak at the bottom on the condenser where the dryer sits. A new oring took care of it. I put in a new dryer while I was there for short money. Let us know what you find!

I had a similar issue, cold on passenger and hot on driver and like you, the blend door was not my issue. Question, are you using the gauge that comes with the refill bottles like from Autozone? That's what I used, and it was extremely inaccurate. I ended up taking it to a shop and it was simply a low charge, even though my gauge was reading something like 75psi with the car turned on. Charged up over a year ago and working fine ever since.

I had all those symptoms in my 2005 4runner (124000 miles). Mechanic charged the AC system, but it cooled for less than a week. Did this two or three times. He then checked with dye.

Then he said get a new compressor (was leaking there). Bought one off Amazon for $200. He installed it for $200 and recharged the system.

Been cooling good for two years. Not like when the car was new, but good and the same cool for two years.

Not going to throw parts at it, as they are expensive, and cheap compressor (new) got it cooling again.
