I've pushed the weather strip back on there and have cleaned up the sticky mess, but the weatherstrip is loose and easily comes off. Should I attempt to use some glue along the edge to hold it on there? Or do I need to order a new gasket? If I use glue, what do you suggest? Thanks!

Usually weather stripping has a metal insert. Crimp it every few inches with vice grips or plyers then push it back on. If it still comes off easily I'd just replace it. They usually aren't very expensive. I do this at work a lot as a fleet manager of a fleet of livery vehicles. Our chauffeurs drag bags into the trunks all the time ruining weather stripping in the process.
