few updates on the previous page, ran into the 20 pic limit on previous post and it happened to start a new page.

3Pooches Farm: Barely any Snow, mostly Mud | Return to Directory
My buddy from TW has a farm with some trails and obstacles, so we headed out there for the day. There was a little snow, but mostly mud.

The Kenda's did great out there! They cleared well with wheel speed, although that does get scary when they finally hook up, and I didn't ever get formally stuck!

Here are some pics from the articulation area

and probably one of my favorite pictures of the 4runner: featuring the super stuffed tire

yeah I love it! If only the front could keep up with the rear. Rear is on 12" shocks and articulates probably around 16" or more (haven't actually measured, but hub above bottom of body at bump, to tire edge below body at droop is at least half the 35" diameter worth of articulation), but the poor front with its 6" of travel haha.

I'd like to design and built my own LT kit eventually, but I'm a ways out from that. Gotta get my own place and a daily first

I'm 6'6" @ 250 lbs and pushing 60 years old. I cant fit in these little cars, let alone get in and out of them.
Even if I liked the way it looks...and your right...it is hideous lol.

passenger rear window regulator met an untimely demise yesterday when my friend decided it would be a good idea to hold the window button down, so I couldn't roll it back up, while yelling "penis" out the window. Initially was looking at just the motor, but the whole regulator has to come out anyway. The assembly wasn't as expensive as I was expecting, so I just got it all. managed to snag the last AISIN part on rock auto. I'll try to grab pics for a writeup, since I only found information for the front regulators

in return they received 1 entire trip around a roundabout with no swaybars at a speed of my choice. thanks to my broken wheel speed sensor, safety was completely disregarded

Harry at JD fabrications (81Trekker on TW) also sent me out an extra passenger side spindle gusset, so I'm gonna pull my current known good passenger spindle and gusset that puppy, then reinstall.

Previously, I've been doing really structured updates, but that has made me wait to post things until I do a big chunk of work. I'm still going to do those big compiled updates, but I'm going to try to throw in some little interstitial updates here and there. Especially while I'm in school, which is my main priority right now, I don't have any big updates

I purchased some BORA 1/2" spacers last night (~4 week lead time), which should provide a little more clearance up front for the gusseted spindles. Theres already plenty of room on the unbent spindle side for street driving, but I want a hair extra for a blobby aired down tire to have plenty of room too. Hopefully these will also help with the tires kissing the frame at full lock too

Need to buy some extended lug studs to pair with these puppies. ARP studs are expensive AF, so bought these ones that my buddy EatSleepTacos from TW is using Extended Wheel Studs for Toyota Tacoma, Tundra, Lexus IS300 (set of 12) - WheelAdapter.com. He wheels his truck pretty hard while pairing these studs with the same 1/2" spacers, so thats a good enough testament for me.

Now I need to either reuse my current good condition, but 40k mile, parts-store wheel bearings with the new studs, or just buy new ones while I'm in the spending money mood. Feels wasteful to toss the ones that are fine on there now, but also feels like rewearing underwear to reuse them while installing all that new-new.

Probably dropped a pic of it already, but this is the current amount of space

And this is where the tires are rubbing on the frame a hair

A Midwest Adventure
This summer, I relocated from Virginia to central Illinois for an internship. About 880miles, and the 4runner didn't skip a beat. Did notice I developed a bit if an air bubble in my cooling system, which is a HG leak sign, so maybe not entirely without skipping a beat. Quick burp and its back to normal. Also rolled into 240k+ miles

Got this bike rack to take my bike with me, and its super high up there lol. First pic in the driveway at home, second one somewhere in Kentucky

some big toys. I'll be mainly working with the engines themselves, and specifically valve train design for large engines 27 to 300+ liters, which is pretty exciting

45/65r39 tires on that loader! thats 45" across. About 28k per tire holy moly. check out the rear diff on the haul truck too

Heavy equipment is fun! At my previous job, not too long after I started there, I ran and worked on some of the heavy equipment there. I really enjoyed it but I eventually chased the money into the operations side and moved away from the heavy equipment. Good memories though!!

Is that 192 your normal operating temp? How did you figure out you had an air bubble?

Normal operating temp for me is like 180-190. Usually 185ish but sometimes up to 195 when working. never breaks 200 under normal operation

So for the bubble, when the coolant expands and goes into the expansion tank, it won't draw back into the radiator as it cools. In writing this, I should buy a new radiator cap and try it because they're cheap. Another reason for this happening would be the combustion gasses getting into the cooling system. Only happens on long drives or when its working hard. So like this trip was 14 total hours, full of crap, and through the mountains of southwest VA, WVA, and KY.

I can tell it has the bubble/low coolant because the coolant temp with rise when stopped up above 200. Easy temp fix (for like at a stop light) is to put in neutral and hold 1500 rpm and it comes right back down to 185ish. Burping the system fixed all of that. When burping, I didn't notice any bubbles forming (like exhaust gasses) in the coolant beyond what came out from burping. Thats of course not an end all, be all, but I guess a goodish sign lol.

Yeah I am about the same temps.
I had similar issues where the coolant wouldnt draw back into the radiator, and temps would rise if I'm at a red light. I would also get the waterfall sound behind the dash after startups. After replacing almost everything and the issues still persisted I got the headgaskets replaced. Now its running much better. My heads were warped as well, dont know how because it never overheated under my ownership. I wonder whats too hot for these engines?
