the bushing that holds the transmission cable wore out, that happened to me quite a few years back. 2 zip ties fixed that issue still holding up.

Do you have any tips to get the housing off and be able to get in there to work with the bushing? See my last post with pic, pls

That happened at least 3 or 4 years ago. I remember grabbing the cable and pushing into L after that I moved the gear lever into that position so I could zip tie everything, It was gonna be a temporary fix but it just got postponed to a point it never cause any issues.

Literally did that in a mall parking lot, so it was pretty straight forward.

Take your time pulling the gear lever housing.

Thank you for this post. This just happened to me thankfully I was in my driveway. Vehicle was stuck in neutral. Watched a video on how to replace the bushing took everything apart waiting on the bushing. Yota DOES NOT Sell the Bushing by itself, you have to buy the whole shifter cable from them. Aftermarket only.
