Did I ruin my ecm by unplugging a coil with the key in?

My starter recently went out but I decided to check the coils and plugs while I was at it.

I had the key in the ignition and on but not running then unplugged a coil pack. Now the starter isn't making any noises and the radio and door locks aren't working.

I'm not sure about the key-on position, but I've unplugged ignition coils before while the engine was running without breaking anything.

Have you tried jump starting it? I know it won't start because the starter is dead, but the extra juice should tell you if you're battery needs to be recharged to get the windows/door locks to work.

I guess it's also possible that a relay or fuse went out. I wouldn't jump straight to the ECM being bad without checking out the cheaper/easier solutions first.

Ahh man I owe you one that did it. I really don't understand why as the battery is not dead but just hooking it up to cables for a second got everything to start working again.
