Anteupp's 05 V8 Build : "La Tortuga Plata"

How the tortuga sits as of 8/26/17

Simple budget friendly Build list:

- Apex flush mount led bar brackets paired with a 32" amazon LED bar
- Rago Fabrication "ditch brackets" with knock off BD spot beam squadrons lol
- RCI "filler plate"
- ICON 2.5 coil overs with 650lb springs (need to upgrade to 700lb)
- SPC upper control arms
- Toytec superflex coils paired with OME shocks
- Icon vehicle dynamics hydraulic bumpstops
- walker evans racing 501 wheels
- 285/70/17 falken wildpeak at3w
-Total Chaos Fabrication Link skids

- ECGS built rear 3rd member w/ yukon grizzly locker
- K&N drop in filter
- thrush "welded" muffler dumped before the axle
- Rola Vortex roofrack & extension w/ 4x innovations low-profile mounts

Future plans
- Total Chaos, dirtking +2" Longtravel...????
-Relentless fabrication front bumper???
- Prinsudesign roof rack
- Stronger rear links
- 2.5" rear shocks
- Rear tire carrier
- other misc. camping and exploring supplies and upgrades

Howdy everyone, well i'll start off with a little background of myself, another build I own and i guess random BS'ing and whatever else. In short I grew up in sunny San Diego and have been around off road racing and the deserts of So.cal my entire life. One thing led to another, life happened and I got a job with the Coast Guard which has taken me to the Pacific North West and now Milwaukee Wisconsin.

Being stationed in the midwest wasn't my first choice, but hey beggers can't be choosers right?

Knowing what the midwest does to vehicles i freaked out so me and the wife took road trip and took my Tacoma home back to San Diego and stored it at my parents house.

Heres my 2005 4banger 4x4, I built this thing into a reliable daily driver /weekend whoop eating desert exploring machine. You can check that build out here if you like.

https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/...-build.182032/

My pops taco that i hooked up with Pelfrey bolt on front and rear bumpers on the left and my rickety POS on the right.

So here i am in wisconsin bored out of my mind now with no project to work on so what do i do?.... thats right go find myself a V8 4runner to build lol!

A few weeks go by and i finally find myself a mint condition no rust anywhere 05 4.7l with 149k on her for 7300 bucks. Couldn't ass that up. Took her home and started planning out what i want to do with this thing.

So at first I told myself and the old ball n chain that I was going to keep this build nice and simple ..... but knowing me I'm going to build her up to the 9's like the Tacoma which means a +2" long travel front end, wheels, tires , bumpers, sliders, gears ect.

First things first since I can't keep a damned thing I own stock I had to do something with the 4Rnr like NOW lol. OME suspension all around with SPC upper control arms up front and Toytec super flex coils out back. Still stink bugs but hey I'm sure it'll level out one I throw the spare in the back and get the coils settled.

Had a little time off work so I installed this 32" lightbar my buddy gave me. Paired that with Apex fabs lower valence flush mounts. Fits like a glove and is as bright if not brighter than my 30" rigid I have on the taco.

thanks!, i asked the guy i bought this thing from what he coated the frame with and what got sprayed in the doors but he doesn't remember anything about it except that it was expensive haha

No doubt id pay up and respray it with whatever it was cause its done a damn good job protecting the frame ect. for the last 12 years!

just followed you on instagram, great feed!

Chopped off the resonator and piping for a tiny bit of a better rear departure angle. Welded up an elbow and routed it behind the tire. Thanks for the idea NinjaOne! Pics to follow

Thanks! I've always wanted to build a 4runner since forever, so this one will tickle my fancy for years to come! I'm going to have to buy a Tundra here soon to tow my two play toys and complete the trio !

Chopped the resonator off and welded in an elbow to shoot the exhaust out behind the tire. I'm sure I will find a way to smash this one on some rocks or something lol.

Had some old Amber tint I used on some old hellas I used to run so I threw a little on the fog lights to see how they do cutting through the snow/rain. Not really sure if I like the way it looks though.

Made a paper template then cut it out with the wife's kitchen skissors

Layed it down horribly and then trimmed with a razor blade lol

Just got this fat girl aligned, numbers look good and she drives straight as an arrow. Passenger side cams were froze up and we couldn't get any adjustment out of them, it wasn't a big deal because they were set in the neutral position. A BFH should take care of that issue whenever I install new lowers sometime down the line . Thankfully the SPC uppers allowed me to get the right amount of adjustment needed. Now I'm impatiently waiting for discount tire to give me a call so I can get some new shoes on her.
