Yeah, it seems solid. The connections are all rubber coated but metal. The flimsiest thing is the air filter which is plastic. But other than that, I don't have many worries tossing it around. Waiting for the weather to be a little nicer and I'll head out to give it some real world experience.

Yes I have this model. Works great. Airs up all 4 of my tires at once. Be careful though, it gets hot but cools quickly.

So glad you posted this, been looking at compressors for a while. Always used the cheap cigarette lighter plug in ones and lost count of how many I’ve literally burned up by airing 33” and 35” tires. They take forever and would forget about them going in the garage to find them seized up and smoking lol.
After reading this I’d planned on getting a 2781 as well. Seemed like a good balance of CFM’s and price. Was on Amazon and saw a “used” one from them for only $32.48. Since I’m a bargain shopper they made my mind up for me. This thing came in and looks perfect, new, and all parts included except for the zipper on the bag and a small hole in it. Bag is kinda cheap and plan on replacing it anyways or taking it out. Guess I’ll have to keep an eye out for more “used” items from Amazon.
@ ieatfish
that looks like it fits great! Which model is that case? I may have to get one. This bag is pretty flimsy for the amount of weight it need to hold, as well as the sewn on handle.

Alright, reporting back. I used the compressor today after driving down Schnebly Hill Road. Aired down my regular all-weather 265/70/17 tires to 20 PSI at the top and used the Smittybilt 2780 back at the bottom. From 20 back to 32 PSI, took me maybe 7-10 minutes. We aired up another 4runner with us as well. From pulling the pump out to putting it away can't have been more than 20 minutes. No thermal shutoff in 100 degree heat though I did try to keep it out of the sun when possible.
All in all, it worked perfect. No complaints.

So not bad at all, under ten minutes from pulling it out to putting it away. Really happy with my purchase.

I went from 18 to 40psi (same size tires) and total time to hook everything up (I run a pigtail from under the front bumper to a manifold), air up all 4 tires at once, then put everything back up and put caps back on in just under 10mins. That's with the 2781. They're nice pumps for the money, that's for sure.

I don't think you can go wrong with either model in all honesty. The 2780 may fit my needs perfectly.

Very Cool...Yes I learned about airing down just recently up on the Rim by the Lakes. Those wash board roads were horrible. Next time I will be ready for it.
