Anyone Running Smittybilt 2780 2.54 CFM Portable Compressor
Anyone have experience with this Model or any Smittybilt compressor. Any feedback would be great. Thanks

I'm also curious about this. I've been waffling between the 2780 and Viair 88P.

I've got a 2781 mounted under the hood. I've had it for some time, used to use it all the time when I had a F150 FX4. It filled up 34in tires pretty quickly. Just now getting to where I'm about to use it for the 4Runner with a manifold to air up all 4 at once. Not sure how much help I can be, but if you have any specific questions, I'll answer as best I can.

I have the 2781 mounted in the cargo area. I added in some standard npt air connectors and a pressure switch so it shuts off when I'm not pumping air (this way I can use a closed air chuck).
The compressor is working great so far.

I did a fair amount of research and this seemed like a good value and people were generally happy with it. I’ve used it a handful of times. Airs up my 265 70 17s from ~24 to 35 psi in less than 10 minutes. No issues w overheating in 90+ degree weather

It's fine if you are just using it as is out of the box and don't have huge tires. Doesn't seem to hold up to the heat under the hood too well, I'd recommend spending a little more on the 2781 if you are thinking on board air under the hood

I'm not going to onboard air under the hood in Arizona with the temperatures getting 115 in the valley don't trust it.

I have the 2781, its my favorite compressor. I have several of the smaller red 12v compressors, but the big SB is the one I use all the time.

Holds up fine in S. Louisiana summer heat, which is about the same temp and 3-4 times the humidity that you see in AZ.
at least my 2781 does, not sure about the 2780

So in terms of output, the 2781 puts out 5.65 CFM which is roughly equal to 1hp in the compressor world. The 2780 puts out 2.35 or there abouts, roughly half. Now, the smaller unit (2780) is fine for stock or slightly bigger tires, the 2781 gets there in half the time. This is good to know if you are planning on board air as it will only half to work half as hard to do the same job. Less heat build up, less run time, less time waiting to get back on pavement

I am leaning towards the 2781 for Not that much More than the 2780. Seems like a Very Nice unit. Thanks for all the feedback. I am Running a 275-70-17 so should be perfect.

I received my 2780 last night. Comes in a sufficient bag but I transplanted it into a Pelican case I had. I was able to use it this morning to inflate a slow flat in my wife's Sportage. Went from 20 - 30 in about a minute. I want to run some tests on my 4runner when I get a chance but so far it seems well built and was actually quieter than I expected.
I was also able to fit my deflator in the same box so it's easy to toss in as a package when I head out for some fun.
