Front Skid Plate

Hello,
I just purchased an 08 SR5 and while detailing it, I noticed that I may be missing one of the front skid plates since I can clearly see the radiator from underneath. I am not 100% certain since all the images i find on google and in the forums show aftermarket or the silver Toyota one that completely cover the front undercarriage area. If I am missing one, I will search for the OEM one.

Any guidance is appreciated.

thanks,
Marc

Front of 4th gen...you not missing one...should be two...1 starting from the radiator support covering the front diff and then another one behind it covering the oil pan.

Thank you. Should there be a rubber piece type splash guard or something covering the exposed area in front of the radiator?

There are no rubber splash guards to cover the radiator. There are rubber splash guards in the wheel wells, but nothing under the radiator

RCI makes a bumper filler plate for that spot if you want more protection.

I went with the filler plate, front skid and trans skid from RCI myself. Great products.

Thanks All. I appreciate the responses. After looking further, it appears I may be missing one skid plate that goes behind the front one. I think it's the smaller one for the transmission. I am going for an oil change today at the dealer and should be able find out which one is missing.

Thanks

There should be 2 metal skids, and then a smaller plastic piece that trails off about 8" behind the oil pan skid. 1st pic doesn't have the plastic, second pic does. For reference, front of the vehicle is at the bottom of both pics, in the first pic they're upside down, second one they're just dropped down from their mounting location.

Again thanks for the responses. The dealer service tech confirmed I have the two skid plates provided in the photo by y=mx+b. Only thing missing is the plastic cover for the oil drain plug and I read it's no big deal if I don't have it. I also crawled underneath and see both skid plates

I guess I am being a total newbie, I would have thought the transmission oil pan should also be protected since it looks like the oil pan cover has the two points towards the rear where it looks like another skid plate would attach and protect the trans oil pan. I guess I am just overthinking this.

I also find it odd that there is no transmission skid. If you're worried about it for offroading, then there are bolt on aftermarket options.

You really have to be "rock crawling" to get into the trans.
Its tucked up in the frame.
Will be beating on exhaust before trans.
Factory is a bit of plastic.

Really these OEM "skid plates" are nothing more than gravel deflectors.

Thanks Backoff,

I didn't pay attention to how the transmission pan sits well above the frame. I won't be doing any rock crawling or any off roading as mine is a 2 wheel drive.

I might venture off some dirt roads here and there but that's about it. Good to know I am not missing a plate.

Here is what that extra part of the skid looks like... came across it fooling around in the garage today.

Just a sheet of plastic.

Could DIY make one out af a piece of ABS plastic sheet, if so inclined.
