VSC Off/VSC Trac lights on after water crossing

Went offroading, and went through a relatively deep water crossing. Everything else seems to be fine, but now I've got the VSC off, VSC TRAC, and car with the squiggly line lights on.

Initially, restarting the car got rid of these lights. Now it doesn't... Any ideas? Reading around best bet seems to be an ABS sensor of some sort. How would I narrow this down before I start buying parts?

Are you pulling any codes?

I've been in that boat since early 2019. Every time I switch into 4lo (sometimes going into 4hi) my vsc off light goes on and trac lights flashing. Can't remember if it happens when I lock the center, I don't think so. When I restart, it goes away, but only if in 4hi and 2wd. I usually pull a c1340 code, which is for center diff, but weirdly I haven't been able to pull that code lately when the lights come on; but that might be due to my cheap amazon ob2 reader. Long story short, some trusty mechanics and the toyota master techs couldn't figure it out after having my rig for months (replaced my transfer case, brake booster assembly, checked wiring harnesses, tested cdl). Same lights stilli come on, but everything seems to still work (4hi, 4lo, dac, atrac), so I wheel on. My next guess is it's my abs sensor or abs harness. That's the next thing I'm going to try.

Here is a link to that post: Bizarre 4Runner Failures - What's your Story?.

Well this just got more interesting.

Center diff started locking and unlocking on the way home. (or at least the light started going on and off). Turned the car off to unpack, tried running by autozone to pull a code, and as soon as I started the car, no lights were on.

Drove about 5 miles, still not lights. Going to try pulling codes next.

Sounds like you might have a problem with water ingress on wiring/switches/sensors...

I have this same issue except I also have a check engine light on as well. Tried following some youtube instructions but couldn't even get the 1st part of it to work which is getting the ABS lights to blink to recalibrate it.

Where is the ABS sensor and harness? Anyone with any pics?

FYI, mine has not come back, but I never had a CEL.

My guess is I got water somewhere in the position sensor harness for the center diff lock, but I don't know that. All I know is the issue seems to have gone away...
