Electrical issues after trying to install backup camera

I just picked up a 4th gen 2003 SR5 4WD and the first thing I wanted to do was install a new headunit and backup camera.

After mounting the rear camera and routing the video/power wires, I plugged everything in to test if the rear camera would turn on when in reverse. After it didn't work the first time, I realized I had accidentally swapped the video and power trigger wire. However, after swapping them, the rear camera still wouldn't turn on.

But now, it seems like I've messed up something to cause a whole slew of electrical issues:
- Reverse lights don't turn on when putting vehicle into R
- Turn signals don't work when using stalk (no clicking sound and lights do not flash. However, pressing hazard button works fine and lights flash correctly)
- Rear hatch won't open (electronic release doesn't seem to be working at all)
- When starting vehicle, fuel gauge will sometimes show completely empty and have the gas light turned on

I've checked the turn signal and other fuses in the driver side kick panel and engine bay and they all look fine. I'm just very confused on how these issues might all be related and why they would happen all at the same time. I'm wondering if having the trigger wires swapped could have damaged something?

Any help would be appreciated.

You can't check fuses visually. Use a multimeter.

Disconnect the battery to see if that helps. Just did my backup cam and my new stereo had a reverse wire (purple) that connected to the power wire (red) for the camera. This red wire was attached to the RCA wire.

Then, tap into your reverse light for power and ground on the other end. You’ll likely have a power (red) and ground (black) coming out of the camera and an additional power (red) connected to the RCA. Connect both red power wires to the reverse light (red with yellow stripe) and the ground to the white/black ground wire. I ended up needing to extend some wires so it all would reach the taillight.

Here’s a YouTube guide I used: 2003 - 2009 Toyota 4Runner Backup Camera Install - YouTube
