Lean fix issues.

So I posted about this already but now I have discovered another issues.

So I put a 1 inch daystar lift on the left front wheel and besides the fact it put the front about an inch higher then the rear i was taking a look today and found this!

Seems the studs on the mount have been pushed out. It was not like that when I put it in. Anyone every seen this before?

Anyone with suggestions on how this happened and/or how to prevent it?

I have not taken apart yet to fix but I plan to today or tomorrow.

Im not super experienced with something like this, and hopefully someone else will jump in here. You could pull the shock and try to press those back in, then put a tack weld on each one to secure them. Threaded top bolts would be ideal, so upgrading to a Tacoma take off Bilstein shock or similar would be the safest way to go. Maybe that is a Bilstein judging by the color. I thought they were all threaded. Dont drive it too far obviously.

Drove a bit because I had no choice and def get some clunking but they haven't moved so far. The shocks are Bilstein 4600 and the mount is a KYB. Those came out after I added the 1 inch daystar lift just on that side.

I screwed on the adapters as tight as I could get them then put it all back together. noticed this days later.

I'm not happy with how the lift made the entire front end go up to 37 and now the back is 36. I think I'm going to put the 1/4 spacer back in and be happy for the winter and maybe replace the shocks again with the 5100 next summer and see if I an even it out that way. Should have done that in the first place!

Don't know the price difference but I believe people swear by the Toyota top hats because of stuff like this. Might be worth it if it doesn't hold again.

Its def something to consider. Ill get everything together for now and hopefully it stays together. Maybe if I do upgrade to the 5100s ill swap them with toyota ones just to be on the safe side.

Does anyone know can I use the 5100 to compensate for the lean without issues since they are adjustable?

Where is your lean? Front or back? I believe the difference in the 5100's is quite a bit between settings. They would probably handle differently also on different settings.

My lean was the front and back on the driver side.

I installed the front 1/4 spacer first then the 1.5 in the rear but I had to keep messing with it. I think I'm going to kist put the 1/4 back in the front and leave it be.

I am concerned about the rear spacer as the only way I could put it in was the way I found out is the procedure for the fj cruiser so the spacer went on top of the bump stop and not inbetween.

I wonder if I can get away with doubling up the 1/4 spacer?

I also may put some stiffer springs in the rear but idk which ones.

Correct me if I’m wrong here, but if the nuts were tight enough I wouldn’t think the studs could be pushing back down out of the plate. If that is the case I would think tightening them enough would pull the studs back up. After all that’s what’s holding the whole coil assembly up tight from shifting up and down and clanking.

I also installed the KYB top hats on mine due to a lot of people recommending them. Mine came with a set of longer studs that I easily pressed out with a small vise and shorter factory ones just tapped back in.

Those bolts that come with the kyb top hats are excessively long and look like they needs to be tightened more basing by the top protrusion. If you want I can measure or count the threads on the top of mine for a reference to yours’. Here’s mine.

I dont remembre if mine came with another set of studs or not. If they did I didn't change them. This all happened after I added the 1 inch spacer so I take it thats its something I did. I screwed that stud extenders on and I though I had them tight enough prior to install as they would not move anymore.

Gonna take it apart today or tomorrow and see what's going on.

You think that synthetic spacer could have Just compressed some causing the change in size resulting in the bolts pushing down? I guess it wouldn’t do me any good for me to measure my bolts due to me only having a 1/4” spacer lol.

I have no idea but all fixed now. Took out the 1 inch spacer and put back the 1/4 one. there was space between the stud extenders and the hat so thats probably what the issue is but the stud extenders wouldn't go down any further.

I have a pic ill post from my phone. But for now the studs are back in place and im sure will stay that way now. If I do end up replacing the struts again I will replace them with toyota.

Any recommendations on some new springs? I was just gonna do rear but maybe ill do all around? I read fj springs are a nice upgrade or maybe just gem 4runner but from a newer model?

Just the pic I mentioned. I think with some type of spacer between the top of the mount and the extender it would prevent that issue.

Just looks like those extenders somehow weren't tight enough and once together pressed the main bolts out. Hopefully you got them pulled back in there. You'll hear it if you didn't
