Sorry if I missed it. But has anyone found any good motor mount replacement write ups? Didn't see any in the list and searching hasn't provided much help either. My bad if I missed it!

No sweat, unfortunately I don't believe I've seen or saved anything on the motor mounts for the 4th gens. I can look and try to find any I may have missed, and if you find anything, I'd be happy to include it here!

So you're saying there's a need huh? Haha. I'll see how the process goes this weekend and see if I can put anything together myself I suppose.

Hey that would be awesome dude! I and other members here would really benefit from some documentation!

Let me know if you get stuck uploading pics to the forum, its kind of wack. I use this method: https://www.toyota-4runner.org/3587207-post17.html, but you can also upload them as attachments here too

@y=mx+b Not sure if this would fit into your directory but I have a link in my signature to my process of putting the factory E-locker from a 3rd gen into my 4th gen rear axle. 3rd gens are easy to find in junkyards where I'm from so the 3rd gen E-locker retrofit is a fairly easy and potentially cheap way to get a rear locker.

Sweet! I'll add it in with the differentials. I saw the FJ case swap and added that one, but must have missed the elocker swap. Thanks for documenting!

Hello,

I looked through the articles but haven’t found anything on starter replacement. I’m guessing because this is probably super easy lol but I need some advice.

2003 Toyota 4runner starter removal - YouTube

2003 4runner v6

It’s my buddy’s and his starter failed and I offered to change it for him.

It’s on the side of the road so I went underneath and made some room by taking off the bottom engine cover/plate. Removed negative cable. Removed starter wire and stuff connected to the solenoid…

The 2 starter bolts are a pain though. I can’t get good leverage from underneath (not on jackstands). I can’t start the car to heat up the bolts either haha. I did spray them liberally with deep creep but that didn’t help much.

Is there a better way to do this? Is it easier to remove driver side wheel/tire, put it in jackstand, and go through the wheel well somehow? Any tips?

I did get a new 3/8 breaker bar and both 6pt and 12pt 14mm sockets that should help. Should I hit the bolts with a little propane torch to heat them? The angle is just so weird underneath… my socket set uses a non standard connecting piece so that’s why I got the specific breaker bar and 6/12pt sockets to try next. Slowly growing my little tool collection haha.

Thanks!
