Crunchy sounds from behind dash

crunchy sounds behind dash - YouTube
No idea what's causing it. It does this constantly if the power is on. It sometimes stops if you meddle with the fan settings enough (changing from front air to feet air) but it's so inconsistent that I don't even know if that does anything.

Sounds like debris in the fan blades; twigs, leaves, etc. Have you taken out the cabin filter to see if there's something in there?

There was a few small leaves, but otherwise it was clean. I hit it with an air compressor and put it back in it was so clean.
It still makes the noise afterwards. However only for the feet air.

Are you saying there was leaves "on" the air filter, I don't think that's what he was saying/meaning to check for?

Did you look down into where the fan blades are for debris down around the blades?

I misunderstood that. I'll check it soon and update.

Exactly. I've had debris get into the fan 'tunnel' area in many of my cars. It makes the sound I hear in your video. Stuff comes into the air vents below the windshield, under the hood, then they get stuck in the area around the fan blades and make a racket. Sometimes they rot and blow past but quite often they just sit there and make noise.

I've not had the problem yet. Whenever I open my hood I always check the vent grill area and clean it up. I'm not sure how much you can see/feel when you take the filter out but you need to reach the fan blade area. Wouldn't hurt to check that grill - vent air intake area either.

So I have now checked the fan blades and there was nothing there. I will check the vent grill tommorow. I couldn't get it to make the noise it was earlier and it was blowing air. But it was making it in the morning.
I did manage to wedge my phone in there and get a picture of the fan.

Sounds like the A/C blend door actuator. Not a hard job just annoying to do.
Should go away on its own, usually makes a noise once you turn the key.

I don't know which is the blend door but here is a video showing a couple of areas that could be causing the buzzing. He shows you how to disconnect the motor so you can isolate/eliminate the issue. His explanation is in Russian and English. This link will start you at the English explanation

The problem seems to be whenever i select the foot air vent. It does not turn off once that's selected it just keeps crunching away.
I can definitely check it out, it's not the highest priority thing but it's also really pissing me off.

That's its function, to open and close vents according to the selection you have on the ac.
