Just bought an 03’ Limited 4.7L V8.
The 03’ V8 has 103,000 Miles and has been garage kept and maintained at a Toyota dealer throughout its life. Rust free. I got all the maintenance forms on the Toyota website. Paid 7,000$. I’m afraid I have the timing belt and water pump replacement due. Anyone know roughly how much I would have to pay at my local Toyota dealer for this job to be done?

I’m not sure about a dealership or your area, but I’ve paid around $1,100 at independent shops here in Southern California the 2 times I had it done.

Yeah that’s a lot lol but then again that is Cali. I’m hoping a local dealer here in Iowa would charge around 900. I think I would need to ask the dealer directly.

Just bought an 03’ Limited 4.7L V8.
I paid 1k (not at a dealer) in SLC Utah. Expect $800-1200 depending on location. Also sounds like a good buy man! A lot of life left.

Congrats on the truck! Though the initial cost may seem high, it’s recommend to have the timing belt, water pump, thermostat and serpentine belt replaced at the same time. Shop around and get some quotes. It’s one of the biggest pieces of maintenance needed on these motors. Once that’s all done it should be smooth sailing for another 100k with oil changes and smaller items that may need servicing.

1000 is not a lot if that includes parts..
I did the work myself so labor was free but parts alone (non OEM mind you) totaled up north of $500 bucks. I did the timing belt, water pump, front main seal, valve cover gaskets, spark plug tube seals and plugs.
400-600 bucks of labor sounds reasonable for the amount of work that goes into doing this if you can't yourself.

Congratulations on the 4runner! I also own a 2003 with the 4.7L V8. I did my timing belt/water pump at Billion Toyota Sioux Falls and it came out to right around $800.

If you're in Iowa, I'm not far from you in Kansas City. I paid about $1,100 at Molle Toyota here in town 6 years ago for the belt and water pump replacement. I did bake that amount into the cost when I bought it a month prior though.

How is that 03' working out so far? That seems like a really good price based on what I see in my area.
I have a Toyota dealer with an 03' with 64k miles but it's only a V6 SR5. Their website is asking just under $9K but I am thinking a dealer may have a bit of wiggle room.

That is a great price for that 4Runner. Here in Utah, the prices are ridiculous. A guy here is selling an '03 Sports Edition with 103k for $13,500. I called him, because my daughter is looking for one, and asked him why he is asking $5k over book and he said because people will pay it.
