Check engine light, Traction control light, VSC blinking

Check engine light on. Traction control symbol on. VSC OFF blinking.

I had this about 2 years ago on my 2008 but vaguely recall how I resolved it. I think I lubed the fuel cap o-ring but I don't recall how I cleared the lights. I'm working off my tablet (my laptop is fried and I'm currently unemployed) which isn't letting me search. Any help, clarifications, etc is much appreciated.

9/1/20: ISSUE RESOLVED
Going on past experience (aka assumption), i removed and cleaned the fuel cap o-ring as well as the fuel tank filler tube's mating surface. After roughly 4 engine cycles, the idiot lights are off. I plan on lubing the o-ring when I get a chance (aka I was lazy).

CEL means scan codes, could be anything. VSC and TRAC lights come on with the CEL since something is not right, the computer knows it can't trust the other inputs. Any auto parts store should be able to scan the codes for free

To clear the lights, erase code with code reader or unplug negative battery terminal for 30 minutes or so.

Thanks for this detailed post. My check engine light came on at same time as traction control light and the VSC was blinking. By googling "2008 4Runner engine light on, traction control light on and flashing VSC", I came right to this thread.

Read through, tried wiping down the gas cap o-ring and the sealing surface and that didn't clear the code. The gas cap looked new as it was pretty clean but the area inside the door was all very dirty. Huh?

Next put some all purpose grease that I use to grease my table saw trunnion on the o-ring and took off the negative terminal to clear the code. Reattached and started up and it cleared the code. Hot damn.

The o-ring mating surface on the tube looks sketchy (disfigured? corroded?) but there is a small bead of grease around the circumfluence. This grease shouldn't be a problem should it?

I'll try hard to not get any of the grease down the tube or on the gas pump nozzle.

Thanks!

I'll update should I have more problems.

You should read the codes it's throwing. (BTW - Last time those lights came on for me, I had to replace catalytic converters. Hope it's not something expensive like that)

Dealing with this right now. Took it to the dealer today and they said A/F sensor, bank 1 sensor 1, and bank 2 sensor 1 were bad. No EVAP codes which is what I expected to see.
