Autobody Shop Work

So I recently decided to get some cosmetic work done on my 2006 SR5, and so I went to a local autobody shop that was recommended to me by a friend.

I'm looking at getting both front and rear bumpers repaired and redone (mostly minor damage but there is a small amount of physical damage on the front left side that I'm looking to get fixed.

In addition, I enquired about repairs all around the vehicle sides (to include replacing the cheat line that has faded). Finally, I also got a separate quote to have the hood looked at. It's got enough cosmetic damage (to include a few small hail dents) at this point that they said it would have to be completely stripped down and repainted. Thus I have a few questions:

1. If you were having work done on both front and rear bumpers along with minor scratch repairs along the sides of the vehicle, what would you expect to pay for that type of work? I realize this can vary, but figured I'd ask anyway.

2. For the hood work that I mentioned, I have to admit the quote wasn't as expensive as I had expected, but to be honest I'm a bit worried that whatever paint they use to repaint it won't match the rest of the vehicle. Has anyone had experience with work of this magnitude and if so, what did you think?

I'm thinking about doing the bumper and sidewall work (to include the cheat line), but I'm a bit hesitant to do the hood, so I just thought I'd ask for some opinions on this. Thank you all for your time.

The prices depend, but to give you some peace about the paint matching... a good body shop will do several spray-outs (sprays of the factory paint with other colors added to replicate the other paint) and compare them in the sunlight to the existing paint before prep and paint!

Its the horizontal line on the side of the vehicle, its a term used in Aviation, but I see what he's talking about. Its basically the pinstripe that runs down the side.

Apologies for the confusion. I fly airplanes for a living so sometimes the vernacular crosses over.

Glad to hear the good news about the paint for the hood. I guess it's just a matter of what my budget will allow.

If anyone has any experiences with cosmetic work like this I'd love to hear them. I want to keep my vehicle looking nice and although I know it will never look new again, I just want to take care of it. I'm some what attached to it at this point...lol.

No one is going to be able to give you a quote without seeing the vehicle. If you called in to my shop and asked for a ball park quote of all that, I would say 2-3 grand.
Overhaul both bumpers: 6 hours
Repair time: could be one hour...could be 5...
Hood: remove and install. Repair could be 1 or 10 hours...
R&I grill
Scratches: who knows...could be buffed or might have to be repaired and painted
Paint bumpers: 6-8 hours
Paint hood: 6-8 hours
Blend fenders: 1 hour
Plus material costs.
Without seeing it nobody will be able to tell you an exact number. But just ballpark I would say over 2 grand

That's actually pretty close to what they quoted so I appreciate the input. I think this particular shop does pretty good work so I'll have to look at our budget and figure it out, but thanks to all those who responded.

Yikes, not what I expected. I was going to do this to my runner, but that 25% of its value...

The quote I got was a little over 2K so I will likely only get a portion of that work done right now. I have no intention of selling my vehicle so I figure at this point I'm committed to maintaining as nice a vehicle as I can so a little work here and there won't hurt.
