Tensioner and pulley kit from eBay.

I'm looking to replace the power steering pump since it won't shut up and figured since im in there and its got a bit if chatter id do the tensioner and pulleys. I was gonna order the gates kit on rock auto for around $190 but I found a supposedly Oem kit in ebay for 149.99. Shows the Toyota boxes and says brand Toyota. Comes from china though and the price seems to good to be true.

I'm trying to figure out if I wanna take the risk or not. Doesn't that price seem a little too good?

I wouldn't take the chance, I'm willing to bet they aren't OEM and are counterfeit parts, China just loves doing such things and selling them on eBay is their favorite way to fool everyone!!

That was my thought, interesting thing is it says the seller is based in China but it ships from Kentucky.
Anyone used a gates kit?

Get the parts from McGeorge Toyota online. $95 for the tensioner and $55 for the pulley. Like $2 for the bolt. With shipping you're looking at around $165 I'd guess for OEM parts.

I've used McGeorge several times, fast shipping and no mistakes so far.

In case you don't know the website.

Serpentine Tensioner - Toyota (16620-31013) | Toyota Parts

Accessory Drive Belt Idler Pulley - Toyota (16603-0P030) | Toyota Parts

Tension Pulley Bolt - Toyota (90080-10316) | Toyota Parts

Double check these are the parts you need. I used V6 for reference.

I second McGeorge, they usually have the lowest prices and ship quickly. If you have any questions about parts, your order, etc, I've found Alex and CJ to be helpful over the phone and in real life.

Fun fact too, the McGeorge prices online are cheaper than if you go pick up an in-stock part from them in person lol. I live within driving distance and I still order online haha

What about shipping though? I found that in some cases, the online prices at some of these dealers (not speaking of McGeorge specifically) can be a lot lower than local dealers, but the shipping fees make it overall more expensive! I had this happen when I needed new stereo brackets to install a double DIN into my ‘04 to replace a single DIN the previous owner installed. I went to a local dealer and tried to get them to price match an online price that was much better, and they told me to go through the entire cart process to see what the total with shipping was, then we’d talk. So, I did it right there on my phone, and sure enough, it ended up being a couple dollars cheaper just getting them at the local dealer, and they had them the next day! Not saying this is always the case, but definitely worth doing some research before buying.

True, I agree some research is worth doing on prices. McGeorge just happens to be both the local deal and the online suggestion. Depending on what you're getting, it may be worth it to pick up locally. Sometimes the convenience of getting it the same day is worth the extra price. Shipping is never really crazy for me, but it doesn't have to go far.

When I first used McGeorge, they explained that some stuff is 20-30% cheaper online since its wholesale or something. Pretty much just need to find something online that ships for less than 20% of its online price. For example when I was looking for CV axles, in person from them was $500, but if you order online its $350ish+$27 shipping. Shipping is probably a decent amount for a CV out of state, but on something with that kinda price difference, it'll probably be a savings.

I can understand how something smaller like radio bracket would approach similar cost, I picked up a fuel tank strap pin in person since it was $11 vs $9+ship online. Same with the 06+ headlight wiring.

In person quotes also depend on the parts guy. Whenever I've been or call, they say something like "the price is $32, but I can do $21 today" and it varies on the sales guy haha. I was quoted both $21 and $15 for the $32 passenger CV diff seal on two different days from two different guys. So you bet I picked 3 of them up in person for $15 when I tore a few of them lol. McGeorge also won't match their online price, which is lame. Would save them the effort of shipping and me the shipping costs

Sorry OP for taking this on a dealership pricing tangent lol
