What am I forgetting for this lift? (Toytec 3 inch kit)
Hi everyone, I just picked up this kit: TTAFCS-HA-0309 - Toytec/Bilstein coilovers for 03-09 4Runner
Planning on installing it on my 07 V8 Limited this weekend. I want to make sure I'm not missing anything so here i am.
Is there anything like extended brake lines or adjustable sway bar links I need with this 3" lift?
Pics to come soon after the lift.. thanks

Wondering why is it so expensive. Does Toytec make a different version of 5100 or something?
You don't need longer brake lines with 2" in the rear. Nor do you need to extend the fronts. Adjustable links will help to get sway bar geometry closer to stock, but I am not sure it's worth it.
I would rather recommend you to look into your front arms. Depending on how old/rusty your 4runner you may need new Lower Control Arms (or at least bushings) to do an alignment. Also with 3" of lift stock Upper Control Arms are going to run out of caster, which could make the vehicle to sort of wonder at hwy speeds and potentially produce an uneven wear on the tires.

If you buy new lower control arms, I’d recommend going with OEM. Many have had issues with aftermarket. This is the classic “but nice or buy twice.”
You can get away without immediately replacing UCAs, but they’re well worth the money.
You’ll want extended rear links. Front links don’t need to be modified.

hmm, isnt the entry level bilstein kit about 1k+ as well?
I'm going to go with the stock UCAs for now and see how it does. I inspected the front end and everything but the sway bar links look solid, no leaks or rust.
Funny thing is the car is completely stock and it wanders at hwy speeds currently. I think its the busted sway bar links but I'm about to find out i guess. Thats one issue I'm hoping to get rid of for sure.

This is good to know, thank you. I am sticking with the stock control arms for now as they look like they are in good shape.
Sorry if this is a stupid question. For the extended rear links, I saw someone on youtube swapping their fronts to the rear. Does this make any sense to you?
If i went to PEPBOYS and picked up some front links, will that take care of my extended rear need?

Front and rear links have different designs. I made custom rear links. Take a peak at by build thread if you're curious

It is around $1k. The lift you posted is $1500 so thats why I was curious.
With regards to the UCA -- at 3" its going to be very hard to get the alignment close to specs, but the alignment shop will explain it in more details I am assuming.
I dont believe busted sway bar links would make the car wonder. I had them worn out and they were making clunking noise, but they didint affect wondering. I installed new links and then a year later removed the sway bar completely -- it didnt affect the wondering on the hwy. Sway bar prevents swaying (body roll). These are different things. Are you talking about the way how the 4runner leans in the corner turns (body roll) or that you often need to steer and correct the way where the vehicle is heading (wondering)?

hmm, the price this link shows is $1,042.88. I'm not sure what you are referring to.
I was talking about wandering the way you described it. Not body roll. I also have a clunking sounds going over bumps. I had the alignment done when the tires were new. And the wandering issue stayed. Nothing else looks broken worn down there so I'm not sure what else could cause it.

Oh, the website redirected to a Canadian version, that explained the price. Sorry for the confusion.
In my case the clunking was more prominent when I was swaying left to right quickly. But then again, I am not sure that would affect the steering. Do you have the alignments final numbers saved somewhere?

Slap a pair of 2nd gen 4runner rear links on it.
1 inch longer and only around $15.00 each.
If you guys are talking "wander" as in having to constantly require driver input.
Maybe low caster setting.
Try and get closer to 3.5* caster, or more.
Will track way better.

I do. The numbers after the alignment for the FRONT are as follows:
LEFT
CAMBER -.1
CASTER 3.2
TOE 0.03
RIGHT
CAMBER -1.0
CASTER 3.6
TOE 0.04
total toe: 0.07
steer ahead: 0

I assume you know the parts are interchangeable between 2nd and 4th gen. This is cheaper than anything i found. Thank you!

I'm having a hard time finding them for 15 bucks per, do you remember where you got them by any chance?

I have had 2nd gen rear swaybar links on since 2011. On my 4th gen t4r.
Can get them cheap at Rockauto.com
2nd gen 4runner
For 10-20 bucks
Some have reported the moogs flash rusting.
Your alignment numbers look good.
Maybe rotate the tires to see if it helps the wandering feel.
The front you can do a swaybar relocate bracket.
Moves it down and away from your shock a bit.
