Heated seats for $35 and great quality covers for $88! (Install thread)

So I’ve been documenting my 4th gen build on here and I took the time to write this up because it took me about 4 hours total and I also do have a bit of an electrical back round.

1st things first here are the links to the heated seats and the seat covers I’ve installed! I Highly recommend both links, I think it came out really nice.

6D PU Leather Car Seat Cover Full Surrounded 5-Seats Front+Rear Cushion US Ship | eBay - seat covers

Car Seat Heater Kit Carbon Fiber Universal Heated Cushion Warmer 2 level 5 level | eBay - heated seat pads

So the first thing I did was remove my seats, took them out, cleaned them up and inspected them to make sure they were nice and clean since why not, gotta keep things clean! Then after that I set up my heated seat pads and they come with double sided adhesive (which is surprisingly very strong and hold great.) lined them up and ran the power lines between the back bottom supports. After that I went ahead and installed my seat covers which are generic. Not made for the 4runner seats and for what they are, how they fit, and the quality them I Highly recommend! and also only 90 dollars for front 2 seats and the whole back row!. After that I went ahead and tapped into 2 new fuses I bought with this connector (used a multi meter to endure these fuses weren’t energized when car is off, but also they are energized when the remote start is engaged which is really nice when winter comes around, just have to switch the heated seat on when I get out of the car for the day, and the next day when I remote start toasty warm seats before I get in the car in the winter!

Advance Auto Parts - Down for Maintenance - Fuse adapter link

So I ran the 2 hot wires to the fuse box, and tapped into the ground on the cigarette lighter for easy access. Then routed the wires and zip tied so everything was nice and tight, nothing hanging or moving around. And after that we have to just fish the control wires to the bottom of the console to energize the heated seats! And that’s really the whole install, very easy and straight forward just need to take your time, and it also looks factory which I’m very happy about! The only thing I did run into is IF you do have the console with 3 holes and the DAC the switches won’t fit well in the holes. You’ll have to Dremel them wider (have to use a dremel regardless) but the console I’m talking about is the one I have, so the switch does not sit flush in the hole unless you wanna dremel the top leather like material but I chose not to, I chose to use hot glue and made them flush as possible, if I like the way they sit then I’ll use super glue in the future and have them set much stronger. Here are some pics of the install. Thank you! Heated seats for and great quality covers for ! (Install thread)-img_1016-jpg

nice write up & the end result looks great. will the heat warmer adhesive harm the seats when removed?

im looking for some seat covers as well but unfortunately these covers wont work for 06-09 4runners since they have side air bags on the seats.

I don’t think it will harm the seats. And the covers as pictured have holes in the side of the cover for air bags! So they are stated to be compatible but you’d have to research the ad I posted and check it out. If you’re looking to spend a lot but have super good quality covers that look OEM check out CLAZZIO seat covers and give them a look. Around 400-600 for a full set that looks like it’s really supposed to be there. I was gonna go with those but I couldn’t justify that on covers lol..

Toyota Solara Heated Seat Switches fit the OEM stock slots for those wanting a factory fit. The switches you used look pretty good as well!

Does the rear seat cover still allow for the middle armrest to still fold down?
