Let's see your tablet mount for offroad navigation
Hiya,
I haven't posted here for a while, been busy camping and wheeling apparently! In any case, I have a 10" tablet and was curious what some of you are doing for mounting. I currently have a windshield suction mount but not really liking it because the tablet blocks some visibility and also can't use a window shade for sun protection. Tablets don't like getting cooked in the sun :-)
Thanks for your inputs.

I haven't done it yet, but I think I'll be doing a ProClip console base with some sort of Ram mount on top. The ProClip seems pretty well reviewed and I've loved my Ram phone mount. That's one of the next things to tackle.

If you search for tablet mounts, there are a number of threads.
Mine is at post #50.
Is it possible to use tablet as trail GPS?
Some good info in that post too, just have to filter some out.

It's a piece of metal that I bent and that squeezes under the dash. The mount bolts on to it.

Oh nice, so it's just friction then holding it at the top? That's a good idea. How solid is it when off-road?

So I've been using ProClip mount for cell phones in all of my vehicles. Right after I posted this thread, I went ahead and took one of those cell phone mounts and converted it as a tablet mount. I'll be taking it on a trip this weekend so that will be the final test. Since my tablet already had a pretty decent hard cover, I simply drill two holes and use the screws that came with the mount and connect them as shown.
I temporarily displaced my phone from its normal resting place and will use a temporary phone holder that clips on to the air vent for these types of trips. The location of this tablet is perfect for me as it doesn't get in the way of accessing HVAC/stereo controls or the placement of the windshield sun shade or impede my vision.
This location does impede the access of the water bottle for the pass so I think we'll end up switching bottles. I'll grab the bottle in the pass side and vice versa.

I has been very solid even on rough trails. The head for the radio is mounted the same way. The tablet shakes much more when mounted on the RAM mount.
