2nd Gen Tacoma Baja Wheels On 2005 V6

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my 2005 4Runner that I recently had new wheels and tires installed on.

The wheels (to my understanding) are the Baja wheels that were offered on the second gen Tacoma. I had never seen them on a 4Runner before so I thought I'd post some photos to anyone who might be interested. If anyone knows any more information on the wheels, (if they were included in a package/trim level for example) feel free to share. I bought these online from a Toyota dealer in Illinois.

Tires are 265/75/R16 Goodyear UltraTerrain Load Range E. Kind of a funny story on these, ordered the Goodyear Trailrunner A/T Load Range C and was set to have them installed. Well after the installation they walked me out to my truck and I instantly noticed they had swapped the Trailrunners with the Ultraterrains (A difference of $46/tire!) I tired to hide my surprise and just drove off like nothing happened. Was expecting a phone call that week asking me to come back in to swap them out but nothing ever came of it. I guess we'll see if they say anything when I go to get them rotated as my receipt still says I received the Trailrunners.

I absolutely love these wheels. I was really on the fence about them because tires alone are a large enough investment but I'm so glad I decided to purchase them. It made such a difference in my perception of the vehicle. When I bought the 4Runner a little over a year ago it had some pretty tacky Moto Metal wheels on that verged on being embarrassing in my opinion.

There didn't seem to be any issues with installation when I had them put on. The offset was different from the Moto Metals I had previously but there haven't been any clearance issues.

Thanks for looking!

Damn these look good on your black 4Runner! Tires are nice too, never seem them but I like the sidewall considering they're AT's.

Tires are the dealerships fault. If they want money tell them to take them and give you the tires you purchased, they won't! Lol.

Nice combination.

Thanks!

The Ultraterrains are a Discount Tire exclusive so depending on where you live they may not be available since I believe they're somewhat regional.
Only good things to say about them so far! On-road manners are quite good and off-road they preform great. Fingers crossed they're solid in Michigan winters!

Man those look good. My first thought was, I gotta have that combination. (assuming I could afford it right now, lol), Then I remembered.... just this week I upgraded to the larger, Sport model front brakes and those 16" wheels wouldn't fit anyway. Really looks good. I'm jealous.

I appreciate it!

I was super torn on doing the brake upgrade and just getting 17" wheels while I was at it but I just didn't find a set of 17" wheels that I liked as much and didn't want to go with TRD Pro's like so many others.

Ended up just installing ACDelco severe duty grooved rotors and nice pads and I've been more than happy with that upgrade.

I'm planning on going to a 33" tire after I upgrade my suspension and going with a 17" wheel would've made finding tires a lot easier. Pretty much only mud-terrains in 255/85/R16 vs a variety of AT's and MT's with 255/80/R17

If it's any consolation, you probably made the more logical choice lol!
