New option for 4th gen sliders - potentially

A buddy of mine was a Toyota sales guy for 20+ years, began a small side business a few years ago doing lifts and other aftermarket fabrication for new 4Runners, Tacomas, and Tundras and turned that side work into a full-time business last year. Their niche is the new TRD Pro models but he's been quickly scaling up products and service this year. They began making sliders for the 5th gen and this week he used my 4Runner to make a jig and to do CAD work to start making sliders for the 4th gen.

This isn't a product endorsement post and I don't work for his business - just some photos and an introduction to what looks like is going to be a nice addition to the options currently available. I'll do a full review once these are powder coated and mounted up. They are a bolt-on product and not compatible with XREAS. Angle is 13 degrees. I've seen the work they put into R&D, product design, and quality of workmanship. These sliders fit in nicely with their product line.

Don't know yet. He's making me a deal since he's had my 4Runner in there two different days to do measuring and fab work. I'll make additions to this post to provide more details about measurements and specs once they're mounted up. I'll ask him if he wants to disclose pricing info but he may want to wait until he posts them as available for sale.

Also interested, but need to know price, material (HREW/DOM), and location (guessing shop location is Arizona given that's OP's location).

I always wonder about this style of slider with the frame rails being covered with that inner mount plate.
Seems like a good place for the frame to start to rust.
Trapping moisture and road salts between frame and slider frame mount.
Probably just overthinking it.

Something those of us in AZ don't even take into consideration. lol. Good point, though. I haven't seen bolt-on sliders for the 4th gen with full-length mounting plate like these. From a strength standpoint, these are going to be exceptional.

In the Phoenix, AZ area. Looks like you're west coast so the shipping shouldn't be too awful.

We've talked about it. The biggest problem he's had has been scaling to meet demand. They have a LOT of projects in the pipeline for new products. His bread & butter is the 5th gens and the newer TRD Pro's, but he's pivoting to focus on creating new products that are universally in high demand and are high margin like sliders, roof racks, and ladders.

They have a really nice rear bumper and swing-outs for the 5th gen but bumpers are one of those products that VERY labor-intensive on the product design side. Front and rear bumpers usually go through several iterations and prototypes before the final product that is brought to market. I know a 4th gen front bumper is on the list, but not sure where it might land on the priority list.

That design does not look strong enough for trail use. As long as they are for parking lots only then they are fine.

Sliders on 4th and 5th gen trucks should have 5 support bars. This design has 3, no gussets, no under frame wrap and no frame through bolts with backup plates. They are going to break or bend on the first rock.

Interesting perspective but a bit overdramatic and insulting, with the assumption that someone would be OK with putting sliders on a vehicle just for cosmetics.

This is the same slider design they've been successfully using on 5th gen 4Runners for nearly a year on 4Runners that get wheeled pretty hard. The 4th gen mounting points for a bolt-on solution present some unique challenges. There are several holes through the frame but few that are threaded. As you can see with the image in AutoCad, the mounting plate runs the full length of the slider and will have FIVE frame-thru bolts. No idea how you got the impression there aren't any, but I should clarify that the pics I posted are a tac-welded mock-up and not the finished product. The three support arms will each have a brace to enhance the strength of the mounting arms.

New option for 4th gen sliders - potentially

I swear every other thing posted by that guy is super negative and not constructive. Don't let the negativity get you down. I love the constructive attitude from 99% of members here, and I just can't understand why theres any reason to be negatively critical. I have no problem with suggestions for improvement, we're all here to learn some more about our 4runner, fabrication, and offorading.

Sliders look great man! Working on my fab skills so I can eventually build some for myself.
