Continental Terrain Contact A/T

Anyone running these or know anything about them, either good or bad? The reviews look good especially concerning my biggest want, low noise. What I want is a a quiet tire with a little aggressive look that's decent off-road. For all intents and purposes my off-roading mostly consists of gravel forest service and dirt roads which at times could be a little rocky or muddy. Probably 85% of my driving will be on pavement. Just hoping to hear from anyone on here who has had experience with them. The reason I am looking at this tire in particular other than the fact that the reviews say it's really quiet is this; I have a friend that can get me 40% off on Continental tires. It's gonna be a few months before I need them so I'm trying to research ahead of time. Thanks in advance for any info.

My dad had them on his 4Runner. They were pretty good and decent in the winter. He now has the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3 on his truck and he loves them better than the Continentals.

Hope that helps a bit

its currently #5 out of 20 on tire rack. & has great reviews for "comfort" which includes road noise. but is priced more than the 4 above it... but at a 40% discount sounds like a no brainer.

That's what I'm thinking too. Everything I've read says they're quiet. So that works for me. The reviews look good on everything else too. I just wish the sidewalls were a little more aggressive looking. Yeah, I guess I'm a little bit of a poser on that. Thanks for the reply.

nothing wrong with wanting a good looking tire. i went with the goodyear trail runner AT last year on my 08 sport due to good reviews & lower price than any other top 5 tires & it was rated #3 or 4 at the time. after rebates & finding the lowest price at goodyear.com i got them for about $120 each installed with lifetime rotation. i love the tires but wish they were a little more aggressive sidewalls too.

if you want a better looking sidewall check out the general AT/X, continental makes general so maybe your friend can get a discount on them too? if not they are a lot cheaper msrp than the continentals & are rated better at #2.

Yeah you're right. I want to try to make my runner look a little more hard core but I don't really want to give up my comfort. The Continentals are supposed to be one of the quieter tires and they have a 60k warranty, and with the discount it may be hard to turn down. But I looked at the Generals you mentioned and that's more of the look I want. Thanks for your help

Firebird Guy you nailed it for me. I had no idea that Generals were made by Continental. So I checked with my guy and he can get the discount on them too. I texted him today to go ahead and order them. My cost ended up being $99.50 each. And General has a $100 rebate right now that I'm gonna try to get. Not sure if it will work in this case but I'm still in good shape at $400 for the set. And I believe I'll be much happier with them. I expect they'll be a little louder on road but better in mud, snow, etc. And I definitely like the looks a lot better.

I know this is probably a moot point now, but sometimes these come stock on wranglers and you can find a continental at in 255 75 17 from a wrangler seller who went for a bigger tire

cool! glad that worked out for you, you will like the generals, they are a top rated tire in all categories. & $100ea is a awesome price!

for the rebate, it doesnt matter what price you paid, the rebate just requires a proof of purchase. unless your friend is giving the discount but plans to get the rebate himself... & even if so $100ea is a great price for these tires.

That sounds great. I should be able to get the receipt from him or just let him get the rebate for me. I help him and his wife out with some of their car issues so I don't think he'll try to get the rebate himself. Like you said though, $100 is still a great price. (But $75 is even better, lol) Thanks again.
