2004 Limited V8 155k miles $5800 - Deal or no deal?

Hello fine gentlemen,

I have recently entered the 4Runner world and am thrilled to be here. My journey began in July 2019, when I purchased a 2003 V6 with 204,000 miles. I got it for $4000 from a dealership, I thought it was a reasonable deal. I ended up taking it to my mechanic to do some small work that I didn't want to do after a heavy snowfall (yay NY) and he informed me that I shouldn't have even been able to buy the vehicle. The frame was in such disrepair that he wouldn't advice me driving it. Despite his warnings, I took it on some gnarly class 4 roads in Vermont including Wymans Trail. She did just fine. There are a ton of holes in the frame, I am trying to figure out what the plan is for that.

ANYWAYS

Onto the good stuff:

I found a pretty great condition 2004 Limited V8 with some decent rubber and 155,000 miles on it.
The frame seems to be in good condition considering the year and where it has lived. The owner said that he has been applying oil to the frame almost every fall for the life of the vehicle. and I am using this image to analyze what I can, which is obviously not much. This thing is 4 hours away and I haven't made the drive to see it yet. I am waiting for pictures from the owner as we speak.

I am considering buying that and then repairing the '03 as well as I can and parting ways with the '03. We shall see.

I am guessing that I will need to replace the timing belt, as the current owner didn't specify it being done. Is there anything else I should be on the look for??

I can provide a link to the listing, but don't want someone else to snag my find haha.

And some pictures because that makes any thread worth a view.

'03 V6:

Let me know what you think! Thank you so much amigos.

- Jared

As you well know from your 2003, it's all about the frame, most everything else is not usually a big issue with most 4th Gens but you don't mention the condition of the frame or any photos, I can't say much else without seeing the frame.

I can't believe I didn't mention that. I edited my original post and addressed it. I also added a picture of the 2004 for a rough reference.

I am waiting on pictures from the owner who has said "nothing beyond surface rust" for the frame. Also said the frame has had oil applied to it most falls to prepare for the Northeast winters. Hopefully I get some updates on the frame today.

Thank you for pointing this out AuSeeker!
