Yeah. That was a mistype. That looks like the spare WP I have in the garage for when the OEM in my 2005 150,000 miles m4runner finally gives out. I mistakenly said it failed at 4 years, but that was incorrect. The starters fail on my 4runner every 4 years.
The WP in my 4runner is 15 years old and pumping strong. It's the OEM.
The coolant level is always at the same height in the catch canister - month after month. I use the best coolant money can buy in my 4 runner. Good coolant needs to be changed every 5 years IMO.

CaptSolo, Are you sure you dont have a “knock off” Chinese Toyota 4runner. Your claims just dont match the forums experiences. As far as water pumps go, they are cheap and easy to replace. I dont wait to have mine fail. I replace the water pump and radiators at either 10 years or 100k miles. I dont have to, but I do it for peace of mind. Because when they fail, its never at a convenient time for me.

I am so glad I can wrench. I cant imagine what other people have to pay for service on their vehicle. I got a quote from lexus on my 14 is350 for new spark plugs, they want $650 to replace 6 plugs on a V6 which took me 25 minutes and $55 in parts. That is flipping insane.
On my new to me 07 T4r I have done both cv axles, LBJs, radiator, water pump, ac condenser, full fluid replacement, added a tranny cooler, pulley bearings, spark plugs (iridium). I plan to change 3 fuel injectors and valve cover gaskets anf intake gaskets soon. How much would all this cost at a service shop?? It boggles the mind.
I guess thats why I love buying older Toyotas. I buy it cheap and make it new again.

I your starter is failing every 4 years you should be very thankful you didn't buy a V8. Do you run some sort of delivery route where you're constantly stopping and restarting all day long? Replacing starters every 4 years seems excessive to me, especially on a Toyota product.

Yeah, there hasn't been a draft in my lifetime. But nice try grandpa.
You could and should use this space as a wealth of knowledge to help you. Instead you insist on posting self aggrandizing nonsense far outside the scope of this forum. You have become the laughing stock of this place in very short order. Take a second to reflect on that. Stifle that very fragile ego you have and listen instead of talk. I tried to offer you insight in your thread based on 13 years of documented evidence, instead of listening you immediately turned to insults. So why don't you sit the next couple of plays out there Mr self proclaimed all American. You might learn a thing or 2.

DrCoffee: To each his own. I check for drips below the engine of my 4runner all the time. Never had an overheat in 15 years. No "drips" either - exception = a once a week single drip of oil.
Toyotas are low maintenance unless you take them to the dealer.
I check the overflow canister from the radiator and if it ever down "any" I figure out why right away. The WP in there now is 15 years old - the OEM. Is that amazing, or what?
I have a aisin WP in the garage waiting for the first sign. Then I call a top mechanic (not the dealer) to the house.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I do my own spark plugs - but they are good for 100,000 miles today.
Engine oil and filters
2 gallons of coolant every 5 or 7 years and you are ready to go.
My 15 year old 4runner runs like it is new. I'm blown away.

I did! Thanks for asking. It was NAPA with lifetime warranty. Not using the dealer anymore for anything except maybe oil changes!
