Hey folks - I've swapped out my factory head unit yesterday with a Pioneer AVH-W4500NEX. I used a Maestro and wiring kit. Everything turns on, seems to do the right things. However, there is no audio.
I am thinking the amp is not turning on, but I've not yet confirmed. I have traced the amp turn on wire from the head unit, and confirmed continuity through the harness. In the loom, from the head unit, the wire gets split and goes to both the Maestro and back to the factory harness.
I did try firing it up with the head unit out of the dash, and have plugged a second audio source into the RCA jacks that go back to the amp while the head unit is on, and there is still no audio. Hence the idea that the amp is not turning on. I've not dug in to the rear panel yet confirm.
Any ideas? I've read something about some AVC-LAN bus in the factory manual, trying to chase down the pinouts for the factory wiring. I assume the Maestro is supposed to deal with that if need be.
If I swap the factory head unit back in, everything still works.
yep, you need some wire bypass thingy P32 space modulator to get your unit to work. Ask crutchfield for this, they will gladly sell you one. Your theory is correct, the AMP isn't acting nice b/c it isn't communicating as it should with the factory HU. BTW, don't call it a space modulator (LOL), just mention you need a wire harness for the Toyota JBL equipped cars. Not a customer? not a problem. I want to say you need the following; (I do, I plan on getting another HU soon).
