Rear axle vent question.

I want to replace the breather vent on the rear axle of my '04 4runner sport.
The thing I'm not understanding is that everywhere I look for a new one online all I'm seeing is something that looks like this. I am quite certain the breather vent I'm thinking of has a pipe thread and not a barb for attaching to a hose.
Anyone else encounter this or maybe it's another case of the picture doesn't necessarily match the actual part?

There's a guy on TW that sells a kit to extend it to the gas tank area (includes fitting/hose/clamp) for like $30 shipped. I'll do that to replace mine just haven't gotten around to it. Link in case your interested.

You want a threaded breather.

I’m selling a kit that that reroutes all the way to the engine bay. $40 including shipping and ready to be sent out now!

You can use the threaded vent at the end of the hose by hose clamping it in place. All you need is 4’ of 3/8” hose and a 3/8” pipe thread nipple for the differential and a fist full of zip ties.

Berty_k's kit is great. I used it, and it had easy instructions and everything you need. If you don't have fuel hose laying around, its a great option.

If you need to replace it, make sure you move it somewhere useful either the gas tank or the engine bay. This is a weak point on the 4runner. Most of the breathers are up in the engine bay, except the rear axle.

Thanks for the replies guys, I'm going to consider moving the breather vent off the rear axle. I don't do much off roading and never take it in any kinda standing water so I might just get a stock one I found on line for about $8.

My rear passenger brake was squealing and when I removed the tire to check my brakes I found oil everywhere. Some research told me to check the breather vent and sure enough, I was pretty much just a lump of rust.
After working on it with a wire brush, generous amounts of PBlaster and several taps with a small hammer I managed to free it up. Soon as it loosened up I could see the PBlaster bubble up as the vent started releasing pressure from inside the axle.
