Burnt Out Dome Light Negative Ground

Ok, I have to admit my stupidity here.

I rigged up some rock lights on my rig and was trying to wire the ground into the dome light ground so that they would come on at the same time and act as courtesy lights.

In a rush to finish the project I connected the POSITIVE live wire to the NEGATIVE ground wire used to turn on the dome lights.

I quickly realized my error but it was to late. I'm pretty sure I burnt out the ground wire that is turned on by the ECU. I inspected all the wire I could get to but I don't see any burn out parts and I don't get a negative reading with a multimeter.

Did I fry something in my ECU or did I burn out a wire and I just can't find it?

Any insight would be welcome!

What happens when you put the key in and move it to the ignition positions? Does it start?

Yes of course the car turns on. Everything else still works perfectly. The dome lights just don't come on automatically anymore.

There’s a 10A fuse for the dome light in the engine compartment. It’s a fuse for a lot more than just the dome light, so it might not be blown.

Then you answered your own question as to whether the ECU was toast.

There could still be one burnt out circuit in the BCM, unfortunately. Not saying it is but it's possible. I'd pull it out, give it a smell test and if necessary, open it up and have a peek inside. Those circuits are so delicate some service manuals will actually tell you to touch metal inside the car before touching the computer to discharge any static electricity from your body, that could spark and damage them.
