i need a replacement hood for my 07 SR5, can i get a sport hood (w/ scoop)?
the clearcoat is all peeled off the hood my otherwise nice '07 nautical blue 4runner sr5. it is going to be my son's vehicle in another year or so when he starts driving. i got estimates to have it repainted and it's going to be more expensive than ordering a new hood. i decided to just order a sport hood w/ scoop but i read a thing somewhere that indicated it might not be compatible? can i order a hood w/ a scoop? i thought that was the only different (the scoop vs. no scoop).

Many people have swapped in a sport hood on a sr5 or limited runner, the only difference is the fake hood scoop part of the hood.

the hood will fit but you will need the insert, and the hood insulation is different. Also if you plan on installing the insulation, buy the clips becuase reusing your old ones is a 50/50 thing. Plus you syill have to paint it.

The hood insulation will be more $$ than hood itself. As far as fitting, it should fit, but scoop needs to be truck's color which are sold already painted. There are a couple of inserts that go inside that scoop. Here is an approximation of what I paid:
1. Insulation: $275
2. Scoop: $135
3. Insert & miscellaneous: $60

Actually I bought them from 3 different dealers, where I found the cheapest prices. What was interesting in my search was online prices were lower than if you were to do over the counter purchases. I got insulation from San Francisco Toyota, scoop from McGeorge Toyota on the East Coast, and miscellaneous items from my local expensive dealer. My recommendation would be to search and compare prices online.

you're saying that it is much less expensive to buy a new oem primed hood, insulation, hood scoop, have it painted and installed versus stripping and repainting your oem sr5 hood?
care sharing hood source/price for those who might be considering this job?

I swapped my 07 sr5 hood with an 05 sport hood, about two years ago now. Both trucks are silver, wasn't a thing.

Or you can find a used hood maybe in the same color. If not its still gonna have to be painted so its still going to cost more than just painting the orig hood.
I did this a few years ago and got a complete used hood for 175.00.
Oh BTW I looked for new insulation at the time and it is discontinued.

If you could find an insulated hood, that would be ideal. Insulation is still being sold. Here's a link that offers free shipping, and make sure to check other dealers tab toward page bottom.

When I hit a deer a year or so ago, I found a sport hood off a V8 in a yard. Had to repaint it, left the insulation from the V8 version in there... Would have been nice to find a matching nautical blue one, but repainting wasn't that awful, used color matched spraymax base coat and their 2K clear coat found at amazon.
