Question Blank HVAC/Control Panel

Hi everyone,

This past weekend I spent the nice day fixing the air mix servo on my 2004 with 200,00 which had failed and was giving me the loud buzzing under the dash. I had to drill a hole in the blower motor casing in order to get that screw in the top right out which was a pain but it was doable. So I thought I was all good to go once I installed the new part. And then I turned on my car after plugging everything back up only to discover that there was no data at all going to my control panel. Also, my rear windshield wiper doesn't seem to be working? Needless to say that was frustrating after spending a couple of hours fixing the servo.

I heard some kind of clicking sound a couple of times and some data flashed on the panel for a second but then would turn off again. After doing that a couple times it went out completely. I double checked all the connections but everything is hooked up and took it to a mechanic to see if he could see anything that I had missed. Was hoping it was a blown fuse but he couldn't find anything.

So I bought a new control panel on Ebay for 75 bucks and swapped that out but that didn't do anything. I've read on this forum that the HVAC control module (I've also seen it called the Air conditioning amplifier) can be the culprit so I've ordered one of those on Ebay and am going to see if that does it but as I wait I wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem. There are only a couple of threads on this site on a blank control panel and none of them seemed to be resolved.

I'm really hoping this isn't some kind of bigger electrical issue. All of my other lights, blinkers, wipers, are working fine. But no lights or options for anything on the control panel except for the clock which I can still set. So I've got no control over the fan or any other type of heat or air conditioning.

Any thoughts?

I'm assuming that you checked the connections on the new servo/s?

If so I'm wondering if the new servo/s are bad, try connecting the old servo/s and see if that makes any difference.

Hadn't thought about the new servo being bad. Would that completely cut out all data to the control panel, you think? I got the air amp part today, hopefully will be able to see this weekend if that's what's going on. If not, I guess I'll try another new servo!

Do you not still have the old servo?

If so simply disconnect the new one and plug in the old one and see if the control screen works or not.

I don't have it. I took it apart to see if there was anything I could see about why it failed and since I had the new one I just tossed it. Bad idea in hindsight.

Since I only got one reply I guess this isn't a common thing, which is good but wanted to update in case this happens to someone else down the road. I just got off the phone with my mechanic and he got power to come back to the control panel. He replaced the air amplifier (hvac control module) and it started working so think that was the issue with the control panel. The new servo isn't working and he had to get another new one dropped off. Hoping that is a whole separate issue and there's not something still wrong that might connect the two. I guess I must have blown that air amplifier working on the servo and started this whole annoying business.

I see it has been a while since this post, but I recently have been dealing with a similar issue.
My ac/heat/etc would suddenly quit. I never noticed a blinking ac light. It would usually pop back on by itself. But this last time I started it up and had no air. The only thing that shows on the hvac panel is the clock. No fan speed, temp, avg mpg, etc.
I have checked magnetic clutch relay, fuses, and i just replaced the hvac panel. I thought that would solve it as half of the old panel would no longer light up. The new one lights up as it should but still only shows the time.
Do you think the issue may be the amplifier?
